Old timers like my late father didn't have a cabinet full of do this and do that meds.more than likely three or four things at the most.

Bi-Carb,Epsom Salt,Parrish's food and maybe charcoal tabs, anything else was a bonus.

If the birds weren't exercising well by mid week, quarter a teaspoon of bi-card in a cup, pour just a little boiling water on it which make it burst (mothers words) top up with cold water, quarter teaspoon Epsom salts added and poured into a drinker.NO it does not blow them out,if anything droppings are better.Given Wednesday evening.

Wouldn't be surprised if the late Bilco's XEREX was mostly bi-carb ????

Believe bicarb is one of the ingredients in electrolytes.

In the past I have had a problem with dehydration - and because of high potassium - given a hospital recipe for electrolytes

1 teaspoon sodium chloride (common salt)1/2 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate and 6 (yes 6) teaspoons of glucose - all made up to a litre

I can honestly say its the most disgusting thing I've ever drunk!! Even mixing with cordials - its revolting!! :cry-blow:
