In my opinion as a working fancier I think Wednesday morning is too early to make a decision on what the weather will be like on Saturday or Sunday as we know the forecast changes day by day. I think we should have waited and then if all else fails we could have raced on Monday.

I wouldn't condemn your officials Billy as their intentions are for the benefit of the pigeons and nothing more. Although, I agree it is a wee bit early to decide its still all decided with the best intentions. :animatedpigeons:

Hi Delboy, not condemning the officials.just think we should have waited to see what the weekend brings. If weather was bad Saturday and Sunday then have the option of a Monday race weather permitting and give the working man as much chance of a race as possible. As I said it is just my opinion.

I agree with you 100% Billy, I know you weren't condemning your committee but flexibility is the key to modern pigeon racing and the pigeons welfare is paramount. omho

Time will tell if it was a good decision but with the weather changing by the minute it's not an easy job for the race controller but the welfare of the birds behind the decision it will be a busy 48hrs for me anyway basketing tonight then of to nightshift the home to see the doos come home

Damned if they do ,Damned if they dont. while Wednesday AM was a bit early to call, I would imagine the decision would have been made with the working man in mind to allow those that could time to arrange some leave etc to see the birds coming home. Unfortunatly there will always be some who cannot do this same applies to any race day Saturday included and I feel for those guys.

Will Friday turn out to be the better day ? its in the lap of the Gods we will have to wait and see.

feds wiped out stuart when youve the sky to your self can only mean one thing percy gone are the days when it would of been a great idea all the birds heading home with no clashing our club winners 100 yds a min in front of the second doo in a tail wind with 2000 pigeons away they should of hit the fed in batches and the result should be over in seconds but not to be stuart the games by the baws on the slates the wee turn you get now just dosent out weigh the losses and crap racing were getting i cant even get enjoyment watching them bomb round the house anymore as theres a pair moved close by and its killing them on a regular basis now if i get cleaned out way my ybs am finished think ill bred pedigree dogs instead of wasting my hard earned on the food for the rspb!

sorry to hear this m8 hope they come through for you guys ive always had the fear of being the only birds in the sky when racing but its the chance you take theres is no 100 percent safe way now no matter how carefull we are hopefully birds up today will help pull them through

Happened to us last year Ricky or the year before we were the only ones in the sky and got a doing , last week we were last to go up into our area ,your thinking Percy,s been fed with others ,wrong, we got a dodgy one and all that went before us got decent races . Your right about the sport it's now in the end game IMHO .
