Wiley Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 no andy they are very lazy so needs must Imo you can do more damage then good if they are not fit, I wouldn't dream of training any pigeon unless they been flying at least an hour a day for 3 weeks
Kennybhoy Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 This is good information for a novice like myself..thanks guys
Tony C Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Maybe your question should be 'why aren't my pigeons exercising around home'
hotrod Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Maybe your question should be 'why aren't my pigeons exercising around home'Got to agree mate ,that was my first thought.

andy Burgess Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Imo you can do more damage then good if they are not fit, I wouldn't dream of training any pigeon unless they been flying at least an hour a day for 3 weeks thats how i understood it too .if under 10 degrees and un-fit dont train ?

gulkie Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 took 75 racers 15 miles libbeb at 11 15 home in 26 mins visability excellent temp crept up to 11 deg all home this had to to be tried after the virus last year just to see if the stress level would be okJust be careful you will do more harm than good training unfit birdsAnd it makes it easier for the BOPS to catch them .
Wiley Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 thats how i understood it too .if under 10 degrees and un-fit dont train ? Yes andy, 10 degrees up
Tony C Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 Avoid east winds no matter what the temperature is also there's nothing in the rulebook that say's you HAVE to send to the first race!
dava Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 no andy they are very lazy so needs mustif there no exercising around the loft with vigour i would be worried there is something amiss .thats a must for me before i would consider any basket work but that's jmo
hotrod Posted March 22, 2015 Report Posted March 22, 2015 A hope mine don't exercise round your loft like last year mind an let me no if your lettin your old birds off at Callum's again lolLol Kevin , you know they will be in good hands if they end up through here again .
blue lad Posted March 22, 2015 Report Posted March 22, 2015 I've been training late bred youngsters this last week . All have been tested singled up from 12 to 30 plus miles. They will have to fly with head wind at some time during racing . However they have flown out the entire winter.
Bobby4 Posted March 22, 2015 Report Posted March 22, 2015 Lol Kevin , you know they will be in good hands if they end up through here again .Aye deffinately .have 4 of them left from the ones that trapped to you couldn't of done them much harm you have a good season stuart

Valiant Fifer Posted March 22, 2015 Report Posted March 22, 2015 wouldn't risk it still too early imo.
james mcguire Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 I don't understand why it is too cold for training.feral pigeons don't hibernate or cease flying if its too cold????
Novice Posted March 24, 2015 Report Posted March 24, 2015 I don't understand why it is too cold for training.feral pigeons don't hibernate or cease flying if its too cold???? feral pigeons are not asked to fly a possible 30-40 miles into a cold head wind. they are similarly not asked to fly several hundred miles later in the season competing against quality birds properly prepared for the job. pigeons which are forced to face cold head winds early can be irreversibly damaged for later in the season. Why take the chance of ruining them for later in the year just because of impatience.
