carlsberg Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 probably think that every fed is in the same boat after all the restrictions on racing last season just hope it wont last
carlsberg Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 will have to see if our club has any problems flying north road then wont we , i personally cant see a problem but you get some that do
me Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 probably think that every fed is in the same boat after all the restrictions on racing last season just hope it wont last No what you mean, but the SNFC has a slightly different problem from "every fed" . The guys that are no longer allowed to fly were the same guys who sent a few birds to the distance races AND these are the races which are struggling big time hence the drive for inland " nationals " to make up the lost cash and trying to get every fed and their granny to go with them to make up cash short falls. One or two "mixers" have been allowed to slip back recently, but the guys with a bit of honour and pride will be excluded and sadly these are the same guys that have put up heart stopping performances from the distance with their birds in the last few years.

I agree with your comments. The meeting today I believe was a very positive one and one that can be built upon. The muppets lost a lot of ground and common sense seemed to prevail. You are spot on I think regarding some people will be excluded. That is where we stand together and it is everyone or nobody as far as future discussions are concerned. Mr 10% must be smarting.
carlsberg Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 hopefully we should not have a problem if we decide to fly north road but then it is not up to me but all the members who fly in my club just hope we can decide if we only fly 180 mls or if we want to fly the 500 mls from lerwick
johno Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 the last or one year only trick was when the birdage for the reims race was increased to £5. has never been reduced. £5 per member will bring in around £6K, £10 late payment around £500 maximum, £10 one race membership will stop a few so finance benefit minimal. reduction in prize money means no more cars. 50p on inland races now means national racers paying £2 a bird feds paying substantially less travelling on same motors. if allowed should rais around £4K overall. Total increased income £11K. Actual annual loss 2006 2007 £30K. £15Kper year. who said one year only ?

You stick to worrying about your own SMALL nationals finances, or is it bothering you that much you have to get your tuppennys worth. I FLY FOR MORE MONEY IN MY CLUB THAN YOUR NATIONAL does for some of your races. We're not interfering in your finances so you let us worry about rectifying some of the mistakes that we've made over the last few years, ie a car as you so rightly mention. I wont say no more on this subject, just getting my tuppenys worth.
johno Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 well put andy. all i am doing is observing the effect of 2 or 3 nobodys moving out. after three years snfc loss £30K. fact. snfc increase joinimg fee by 25%. inland birdage increased by 33%. joining fee for yb national incrased 66%. late fee increase 66%. 25% reduction in prize money. the facts would hardly indicate a rip roaring success. the motto would seem to be pay alot more and win a lot less. seems like a strange marketing strategy. with these kind of increases it is possible that you will be flying for more in your club than in the snfc also.
eastcoaster Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 If nothern rock building society had done what SNfC have done then maybe it`s customers would`nt be sitting with shares worth pennys ,Me included, ie stop the rot

To do nothing while trading at a loss is a fool's strategy. The bits and pieces agreed at yesterday's meeting more or less wipe out the 2007 deficit on the race account. The proposal to seek joint convoying over the channel should move that account into surplus in 2008. I'd give my right arm to win SNFC. Prize money is just a bonus.

We can't be sure of that Bruno lad membership will continue to fall year on year and lets be honest, as Andy said earlier his fed flys for more money so who cares? Does anyone really think these increases will be reversed in 2009? Future ain't as bright as some of us may like to hope I am afraid

Future ain't as bright as some of us may like to hope I am afraid Being realistic: On expenses, even Johno remarked on another thread that costs continue to rise every year, he mentioned feeding & fuel, and he says increases never come down. I agree with that. So although these SNFC 'increases' will be reviewed next year, when (rising) costs are taken into consideration, I do not expect anything to come down.
JADE Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 No point trying to score points against each other we are all in the same boat................falling membership/birdage and increased costs. at least they are trying to do something to stem the losses rather than bury their head in the sand.
johno Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 i fail to unerstand a loss on the race account. 2 inland nationals with combined birdage in excess of 10000. it would seem that by taking the feds along with the national a loss situation has occured. are the feds being subsidised by the national membes? as to joint convoying who with. f you convoy with someone way south of you and the weather is wrong at this end you are on to a hiding to nothing. along with rising feed and fuel costs increased membership and birdage charges may well put the lid on many coffins. the effect of raising joining and participation costs may well be the opposite of what is wanted. it may encourage reduced membership.

I could not agree more. Those at the meeting yesterday witnessed an attack on Tom Davidson that was obviously set up to try and undermine him personally and also shake his confidence. Full marks to the guy for keeping his cool and seeing them off. Those same people have all but destoyed their own local clubs. There is not another kicking left in the SNFC. I for one would still like to see at least cooperation between SNFC and SNRPC. Perhaps I am niave.

johno Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 step 1 red yoyo remove the ludicrous need to be a member of the shu to allow entry to the snfc races. this would move the position forward quickly.
