Ko Nipius was a relatively wealthy fancier and was in the main very successful at short distance. He was many times champion of Holland. It is interesting to observe a Ko Nipius in the past did not mean it had to a be a long distance pigeon. (It is generally assumed to be the case)

Ko Nipius bedreef in the 50s a textile business in the village of Middleharnis on the island Goeree-Flakee. Nipius had in those years one of the largest pigeon colonies of the Netherlands. He was assisted by his assistant caregiver Joep van Dongen. This man was the driving force behind the successful series of Nipius. The colony Nipius was developed with pigeons from all the world's races: Maurice Delbar and Joseph Portois from Ronse, George Wibail from Malenzwee, The Brothers Scheemaecker, Jos Hermans and Corneille Horemans, Fabry, Goossens and Arthur de Clippel. Through crosses and Joep Ko managed to grow for one day fond. Formidable pigeons But after the war, Ko could not do anything with all his highly paid world races on the overnight. He tried everything, but all the major investments were to no avail. To burgundy racing team could win everything there is to win, but Nipius and van Dongen were passionate about the overnight races. On the advice of Joep they went to Jan Aarden: he paid these eggs expensive and figure was not there. He got two eggs from the "Blue Delbar" x "Deep Mees." One of these youngsters the NL 54 1026701, a blue hen was one of the main pigeons of Nipius the overnight. In 1955 Nipius and van Dongen moved to Clay again and bought a lot of money for very two breeding pairs away: the breeding couple "Toe" x "Deep Duguffroy". The best son of that couple was the "Witpen 47", the father was the infamous "019" in 1963, the 4th national Barcelona won. The "Deep Duguffroy" also gave other cocks fine boy. The "Blue Delbar" x "38" came the "Blue Witpen" coupled with "Heentje" Rinus Masters, the 2nd national Barcelona won. But this aside.

The second breeding pair that Ko Nipius advised by Joep purchased was "Dark Witpen" x "Witpen Staff" by Staff Dusarduyn. These two birds were among the formidable racing team of Jan Aarden. "Dark Witpen" alias "Witpen Earthen" flew in Earthen among others. 49th nat. St Vincent in 1955 against 9144 pigeons and the 1101e wet. St. Vincent in 1953 against 8242 pigeons and the 761e national St Vincent in 1954 against 10301 pigeons. "Witpen Staff" won a 193rd wet. St Vincent and 125th wet. Dax. Joep linked the "Dark Witpen" alias "Witpen Earthen" at the "Blue Stone", which was undoubtedly the major Barcelona behind the successes of the combination Nipius Van Dongen in the 60s. A direct daughter of the couple also won the 2nd national Dax in 1959.

"The Witpen 76" became father of the "Dark 76" which won seven awards from St Vincent and Dax. He was one of the best racers of Nipius. "Blue 75" was the mother of the incomparable "Barcelona" won the award six times from Barcelona. A brilliant crack and perhaps the best Barcelona racer at that time in the Netherlands. The descendants of the "Dark Witpen" and the "Blue Stone" were in the whole tribe Nipius-Van Dongen intertwin
