I think this is a disgrace. It is no wonder that the sport is in decline. How would these guys have coped in the days of bigger membership and greater competition. Derek I wish you all the best in finding a club to compete in. One other point which i am not 100% sure about but the clubs that have received lottery funding may find that the grants are awarded on the understanding that restrictions to membership are not allowed other than for legal or conduct issues. I may be wrong but it could be worth looking into!

I have been watching this thread with great interest, i think it's an absolute disgrace that men cannot join clubs which are on their doorsteps just because you are a successful fancier you won't get in a club, i would love to be in a position to race against these gentlemen each week in order to make my own standards higher, as for people coming on laughing and joking about stay here, you'll get into this club is an absolute disgrace, as for big da with his statement on the fife fed agm, he is just a sh@@e stirrer!! as for your high and mighty lanarkshire fed you are now just proving you are a wee sh@@@y fed who does not like competition

Well said that man!! Although we are a small club I know we would welcome someone of delboy's stature into our club with open arms and would relish the opportunity to compete at the higher level it would create. Best of luck delboy, hope you find a club willing to take you on soon, unless they're all too scared of the competition ;)

Think you are correct on this regarding lottery grant. Membership has to be open to "anyone"

Agree with most of your comments RWB but your last comment is not a true reflection about the majority of members of the Lanarkshire federation.

cheers

Hi rwb

I have posted on here but it is fact definately NOT laughting that Derek cannot be accepted into a club.

Anybody that knows me knows that I will propose any person to join my club I have no problem with any member wish everyone was the same but sadly this will never be the case

If any member is a problem it's up to the membership to make it known not hide like some I know

Don't think that other 'Jealousy' miff should be raised nedlessy. Or how good a flyer is. Sure I know personally that may be the case. Further it may be that the person needlessly stirs, irks people etc.

Know a couple of clubs here abouts very bad for not having in new members. Even wrote up in my BHW articles.

So yes, likes and dislikes come into it. The hard part, as far as a governing body must be concerned, would be dicyphering which one it was. Then maybe - whether right or wrong -that the reason was he was 'Unlikeable'. I use to advocate quite strongly, and still believe it should be, that unless a defaulter, or been proven to be CRUEL etc. to birds/ animals then they should be allowed to fly. Can't force anyone to spek, or have a pint with them, but should be able to join the NEAREST club to their loft. If they can join that one, but prefer another club that don't want them in.... Tough. Not right possibly, but...

what i would say is i think there should be a grade system in clubs with something along the lines of a league system working along the lines of a promotion and demotion as its not fair that a new starter should be racing against a seasonal professional  just my thoughts

Thats what i think aswell. Rather than having 3 clubs with 10 members for example, have one club with 30 members, split into 3 leagues, so then everyone has a chance of winning their league.

You have classes in horse racing so why not pigeons

I believe the grants are given on the understanding that there are no discriminating antics as such. Could be wrong, but like you say, it should be checked out. As i always say, SPORT FOR ALL, NOT JUST THE CHOSEN FEW.

Good luck DelBoy! I really hope you get a decent club mate!

asha why should a fancier have to pay for training his birds just to fly nationals i nearly fly every national inthe snfc since 1969 i dont see no difference as club you pay your fees your birds are entitled to compete and itsup to club to notfy there decision and why the fancier cant race his birds so the fancier can defend him self if its just for flying a good bird the union must have the power to tell the club what to do loosing fanciers stupidly is just crazy the state the sport is now you need every decent one

Start your own club! It may be a one man club for a while, but will surely grow. This is not meant to be un-sympathetic. Good luck getting in somewhere/ with your own club. At least with your own you could call it whatever you wanted!

The stronger the competition in a club, the better it is for all members. I would rather have one or two first prizes against top fanciers than 20 first prizes against fanciers who send for the fun of it. Hope it works out for you Delboy. Don't let them grind you down.

cheers
