blackswan Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Gareth I can't agree with the mid-day libs from the Kings Cup, although I do agree that the 600+ mile race could be a later than EAP lib due to the fact that the birds more often than not are not expected on the day, unless its a blow home or there's a cheat, like a couple of years ago, but 530-560miles should be day races. tell me why must the cheating thing always raise its head are we not talking about libs as early as poss.
Delboy Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 that it was only a matter of time before a fancier would lose out winning his section because he would time at 22.44 race closing at 22.45 and the fancier flying 100 yards further than him would time at at 04.40 with race opening at 04.45,did this not happen to the late jackie bunch getting beat into second spot in the section by anderson and brown of kirkintilloch who timed early morning cant remember the exact times involved but quite sure something to this effect happened Dont think Anderson and Brown won section m8.

Yes i have to agree, midday libs are better for races over 560 mls. This would improve the chances of guys flying further as they can steal time after race closes at night and before races open in morning.
andy Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 tell me why must the cheating thing always raise its head are we not talking about libs as early as poss. I'm only comparing facts. End of Story.
midnight_son Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Andy/Derek, Why do you favour later liberations for the 600 mile races ? There's been plenty 600 mile on the day performances over the years, both into the Central belt from Nantes/Tours or further north from the Falaise & Gold Cup races. 600 miles at 40mph is only 15 hours, surely that's a 1 day race ?
Delboy Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Gordon Willox, 1st Open Gold Cup Alencon 2008 flying into Peterhead. Thats the first time the bue riband race has been won north of Fife, reason, I think, a midday liberation. FAIRNESS IN SNFC
walterbmasson Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 andy i have been on that planet winning a SNFC and will never stop trying to do it again this post is not about letting birds up at mid day that was only if the birds dont get up as early as possible if you let them up so the birds gets into the borders i dont think that is very fair and its pointed out so everboady in our sport can see that the north fanciers are being frozen out THERE HAS BEEN A FEW BIRDS UP IN FRASERBURGH HAS FLOWN 724MLS ON THE DAY THAT IS WHY IF THE BIRDS GET A CHANCE TO GET HOME THEY WILL IF GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY THE BIRDS WILL NEVER FLY 16 TO17 PLUS HRS IF THEY DONT GET THE CHANCE AND I DONT MEAN 11PM BECAUSE THEY ARE CERTAINLY NOT FLYING THEN 4 TO 500MLS THEY WILL COME ANY TIME FACTS
