just ask me Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 question is what in your opinion is the most unfair federation in England Scotland wales Ireland north and south things to take into consideration how much over fly roughly from shortest flyer to longest flyer wind direction distance of fanicers living east to west also the lie of the land i.e take sprint racing do some fanicers have mountains and so on to fly over or do others have just flat ground or using the coast the sea and of course the pull on the birds as in 1000 birds flying into one area while in the same federation only maybe 50 birds have to pull out of the 1000 at breaking point these are just some of the main points to take into consideration
just ask me Posted May 3, 2009 Author Report Posted May 3, 2009 everyone must be living in a great postion lol no replies
the pigeon_milker Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 the west is coz they win to many for my liking
Novice Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 It's not really possible to answer this question as every fancier is only familiar with their own situation so cannot comment on other federations. There is, however, no doubt that geography can provide advantages to some.
pigeonpete Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 tough 1 to answer, you cant beat the wind week in week out, and yes some people are in an a more advantageous position than others.
greenlands Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Try Derwent Valley Fed Cumbria who can't fly off great circle but are measured off it .Lindsay
PIGEON_MAN Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I think that every fancier could say that their fed is unfair depending on where you are situated but then either move to what you may call a fair position or as most do JUST GET ON WITH IT.
john nico Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 i think its the luk of the draw 1 week the wind will suit yu the next him in the west him in the north him in the east at the end ov the day thats pigeon racing for you dont for get you still have 2 keep your bird healthy and fit just 2 compete these days so hears 2 next week good luk 2 everyone
gooner Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 my own opinion is that if your birds are good enough then they will win where ever you are located
Roland Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Well, have to agree with most of the above. Location, location, location!!! Simple as that. Is the reason why so many 'Famed Flyers' moved to their location! Simple that, even I can understand - as I was told repeatedly by a great renowned flyer - 'If two birds come together, the loft in the East wins'! Simple eh! Never sen yet a fancier move to the West of existing loft and better himself and that's for sure, seen many midioca to fair flyers move to the East and become famed flyers. Just look at the 'Nmames' that have bought their site, from Old Leak Fishtoft, to Skegness Louth etc. Remember Leo sash, was a POW and settled here, Was a photograther, and bought a Fish and Chip shop. Had the odd win in 20 years.... Retiered to Skegness. Even he was amazed at his wins. Said did less, but .... flew a great pigeon! Look at the ones, who were nowt, bout first curve up the Valley, became names, as Logically heis birds only had to be near the leading flock and trap! Knew he'd won!

Agree Roland, all that glitters isn't gold.
Roland Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 True Vallence.... but was just an example really. Did hear of a fellow that actualy moved to the West, about 12 miles and started doing extremely well, where as before was just average .... Mind he then became the Farthest flyer in the EAST of another Fed :-/ ;D ;D ;D
