Flat out Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 Well I am shocked at your post and have to wonder where it came from ?. I suggest you go back to Page 2 Post 22 from the Convoyer who you say was willing to liberate the day he arrived at Alencon "Thursday" yet was not willing to liberate from Buckingham "Friday" when the arrival times were the same. This scenario reminds me of past performances by truckers who had to liberate on Sundays as the truck was required for contract work on the Monday. We should remember they are business men first and foremost and at all times business before pleasure.Big difference Buckingham we could not be on site any earlier Alencon we could have been if needed to be We had a great drive there one we hold up on route to lib site Ps anybody way half a brain would not have another job sitting waiting to go when your on a national job
johnc Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 we are on here moaning about a bit of rain what about the birds that migrate from scotland to africa year in year out dont you think they encounter a lot more severe rain than our birds do but still make it.im pretty new to this distance flying to most here but i have got four 2 year olds left and a yearling thats it, the four 2 year olds will be going to claremont if they cant make it then they are not good enough and i will start again until i get them from france in any weather ,i wonder how many other lofts are sitting with distance doos that are 2 years old and over and make excuses for them not going at the end of the day they are homing pigeons pure and simple if they cant do it when they hit a bit of rain when others in the same area do it then they are no good simple

johnc Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 you will need to tell them to hurry up the rains coming frank
frank-123 Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 you will need to tell them to hurry up the rains coming frankNot going to tell them how far away Africa is. They are in my daughters stable quite amazing watching them. Just like those wee brave pigeons that battle against the odds. France is a long way hopefully the birds missing make it home in the next few days.
JohnQuinn Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 well im just happy for the member jake pearson of my small club who sent to the biggest race of the year and timed next morning, flying into section f is hard enough but to time in the gold cup is some thing else so it dosent matter what anybody says it was a great race for him Not one person posting here are taking anything away from the winners John, and as stated they would have won anyway, good doos and good doo men. We know we canny win all the time, especially at that distance but the wait is only worth it if you see your bird coming home, far too many men have NOT SEEN their birds homing, there lies the issue!!

square_peg Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 have said for the last 10/15 years localised weather is as much to blame as bop for some of our crap races...we cant do nowt about either ...but when we actually know the weather is against us ..then a degree of flexibility is required ....in this day and age we have too look after what we have got...ie the hard core doo men not much more coming through 500/600 mls racing will allways be tough on the doos but we have to optimise what we have at our disposal, weather forecasts, delaying basketing , bringing basketing forward a day. we never sent , none good enough at the moment , but a big well done too all who timed and got birds home from a very tough race . read some of the post regarding the controlling of the race , believe all they guys would have doos on the lorry, including john mcord . how many guys on here have actually controlled a race ??? I have once and was shiting myself and it was only a wee get together toss we turned into a race from 100mls.. after the dust has settled i hope there are many questions to be asked at the agm ...sure it wont bring the doos back ... but it will let other folk step up and offer there services as controllers. jmo
