cemetary Posted March 26, 2014 Report Posted March 26, 2014 Had the yearlings out the day, they were pecking about the ground, I went in to put the kettle on, just came out the back door when a heard the crow going off on one, next thing, the birds lifted then the hen went through, got nowt, but when they went for a flee it looked to have another go, and it fooked aff, the size a thought was a Buzzard, All counted for, that's them in for a day or so.

That size sounds like a Gos, the worst of the lot, snatch and go
OLDYELLOW Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 I think the answer is everyone to make applications to there federations to start racing in first week of May all we are doing is fattening them up by starting so early , if we are to make any difference in there numbers we need to change our ways so we don't fatten them up before going to nest in our early season .
walterboswell59 Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 sorry to disagree yellow they would adjust there cycle to suit the only way to sort this is to get together and do what needs done only problem is it should have been dealt with in the off season but getting together now will still help imo

If you think that giving them a few weeks less food after a hard winter will have no effect I think your wrong if there not fully healthy and fattened up there going to struggle to rear health ybs and there own health at the same time , will they adjust probably but would have to complete the experiment first to see if any impact . Or a 5 year ban on racing and flying birds but that will never happen
