I have joined as I have an interest in racing pigeons but I don't know fully what is involved. I have a club on my doorstep which I have enquired about joining. I have been gifted an old pair of good distance birds from a friend who raced in continental races. I have no clock yet but got loads of time as I think it will be 2015 before I start with a young team. Once bred do I need to register the young racers with rpra? How does this side of it work? Also how many young birds would I need for a season?

Your best bet is get a club , then you can get rings from the club the rings will be registered in your name :) You could offer to help an older member in the meanwhile and get some good experience ;)

As old yellow said apply to join a local club and they will give u all the

Information u require ,if u have only one pair of old birds u will be very limited

To the amount of YB u can breed.

Ok I made contact and I have been invited to meet a few of the lads in the morning. Plenty of people I can shadow and pick tips off. The birds I have been gifted are distance birds but the lad I spoke to said I would be better with sprinters to start with. They also said they can loan me a clock. Sounds a really friendly bunch.
