peter pandy Posted November 9, 2013 Report Posted November 9, 2013 I have handled thousands of pigeons during my 50 plus years in the sport including many national winners and will always remember just one till my dying day. It belonged to Mr & Mrs Jock and Annie Grieve from Auchtermurchty and its name was "Jock". I handled him on the Sunday prior to going to Nantes 620 miles. It was deep keeled round and quite a handful with short wings and depth of primaries down to its tail. A truly magnificent pigeon which 6 days later was timed to win 2nd Open for the second time.

TREBLE D Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 my good cock has a 1st 13th 20th 31st wda from the channel,he won the nehu open from bourges 576miles been 1 off only two birds back on the day from a convoy of 2892 birds, the other bird was clocked 36 miles shorter than him at 21.55 and he was clocked at 22.31 in the near dark recording a velocity of 1072,i was asked to scribe an article for squilles which I did and instead of writing about how we fly I gave a short intro then told the story of this great pigeon,in that same year john proctor clocked at 22.10 flying 622 miles been 8th open and thinking how far this bird could of flown on the day if it had to,

paddymac Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Jock King also had a good pigeon in "Mary" who also was a double gold award winner and her bloodlines are still scoring well for Jock in the present day Nationals of the SNFC.

eastcoaster Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 donald was a great pigeon man was lucky to know him when he flew with traprainYou must know the brother Doug grieve who also went on to breed 2nd open Rennes for Andrew Bertram 7th open for Eric dishington Nantes and also Donald's winner , Doug was and is a very underestimated pigeon man who also raced the superstar who won 27 ( I think ) races from 60 mls / 500 mls topping the fed when he should'nt have a great pigeon that never even got a write up ( I think) . But there are hundreds that we never hear of .
