well done David any word on return s in our fed

Weather forecasts are much superior today. The world and his friend knew it was going to be hot hot hot. Us pigeon fanciers know that our birds don,t fly well in hot weather but still we send them. Bad returns? No. Just what we deserve!

Thanks to all who have congratulated me on timing last night. I would like to give credit to the breeder, Paul Thomson of Forres (Blue Chequer Pied) We were drawn together in the Joe Murphy Young Bird exchange two years ago and this is one of three birds Paul gave me. You need a bit of luck in this game sometimes!

On a less positive note as John Hood said the returns are terrible. I only have one from eight and there are some of my best pigeons missing. There were 33 birds timed at the Dundee clock station from around 300 entries. Returns for my club members as far as I know are 1/9, 5/18, 5/11, 0/6, 0/6, 0/6, 0/15, 0/6. Don't know the answer but we cant carry on like this or channel racing is finished.

Well done Dave, got to agree, it's great to get an early one but where do the rest go? Now for the Y.B.s LOL

Not long back with the clock and the returns are terrible to say the least, was not the race anybody wanted to end the old bird season with, got to hope that the birds keep coming :(

That's all i know racing from the distance returns wise not many blow homes fae five hundred miles and beyond but won't stop me as this is what pigeon racing at the top level is all about Welldone to all that timed and commiserations to all that were not as fortunate :emoticon-0167-beer:

congratulations again David timing your bird when you did,I see your comments regarding being unable to carry on as is or channel racing could be finished.....my thoughts would go back to marking day on tuesday, there was not one fancier that I talked with had any other views than the race was going to be a killer for birds in the kind of heat that was forcast, and yet did they reduce the number of birds they sent, did they believe that all there birds could cope with such conditions,I honestly believe that many birds are being sent to national races have little or no chance of winning, for that I blame the fancier of to-day who have to enter large numbers of birds to secure a few positions and add to the many that go missing each year,Iagree with you that racing cant carry on in its present format perhaps this is open for debate on another topic....cheers...JBC/..

Disagree it was a very poor entry for this race

was it the number of birds that was down or was it due to the number of members competing....?

Was the real distance men that were competing not the glory hunters that should answer the question

with about 1,500 at a race its time to stop the inland races, with the national as this lose can not sustain the distance racing there should really be 3,000 birds at these races to keep it going, there where far too many birds lost in the short national races. and there are loads of national men having to take a year out to get a team together such as the case when asked are you going to Clermont the reply was mainly i have nothing for it, to go with.

danny the reason the birdage is lower is due to the intense heat nothing more

a lot of fanciers didn't want to send in 30 plus degrees

so please don't try and read anything more into it

look at the y/b raceing sofar some wont train in this heat let alone send to races

NO ONE MAKES ANY FANCIER SEND TO INLAND NATIONALS DANNY SO DON,T BE TRYING TO BLAME THEM .

Very well done to all who braved the temperatures and timed very good pigeons , especially jock Alston , top top fancier. Myself? Well I chickened out. With the extra day in basket the extreme heat , we all knew it was going to like this . Hope more work there wy home , dehydration is a worse killer than BOPS .

Just in from loft, no birds home from Clermont and gutted to fek. Got a flutter earlier when my last one from Ypres hit the board, couldnt believe it.I only had to time in up to 10 am this morning to win the Lanarkshire social circle GOLD CUP and what an epic fail ive had. Suicidal from Kirky
