Walter swanston Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Why does the SNFC not modernise act.Their web site contains no information such as,what's the weather like at Newbury?,how many doos on the transporter?,have the pigeons been fed and watered?,are there other organisations around? Etc.etc., and while I am at it they should be told that lib lines are a thing of the past all the information should be on a computer as it happens.
geordie1234 Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 All you need to do is look at the Lanarkshire fed with there twitter account so easy to operate and the information is made available in seconds from any modern mobile phone.
PIGEON_MAN Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Why does the SNFC not modernise act.Their web site contains no information such as,what's the weather like at Newbury?,how many doos on the transporter?,have the pigeons been fed and watered?,are there other organisations around? midnight_son Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 The lib line info is posted on the website for free so that is not the reason. I guess if the members want it and are willing to invest club funds in it then it would happen. It has never been raised at the AGM as far as I recall but I agree, would be great to see a modernised website with rolling real-time results like the NFC and MNFC sites plus making use of Twitter although members can do that themselves, just have to agree a #hashtag for the club so that it becomes searchable. Its a brilliant tool for spreading the word amonst the non-pigeon folk and potential sponsors.
Henrik Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Why dont you come and join the happy band on the committee then Walter, then you could help modernise the website and all the rest, or are you just someone who comes on forums and moans? Are you Bigda in disguise? Getting a bit fed up of knockers who do nothing, asked at the marking last night for someone to man a ringer and out of a hall full of people, not one knew how to work a ringer, they all knew how to make a racket so you had difficulty in hearing basket numbers tho, all knew how to stand at a bar. Thinking we should just close the Musselburgh marking station then we could all go to another one and stand about doing *expletive removed* all. Also the lib-line is there as not everyone has access to or are able to use Smart Phones or Computers, as we all know the majority of pigeon men nowadays are over 50.
johno Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Lib lines provide an excellent income for, VAT man, BT, and any other money making middle man who gets involved. A very small percentage of the total cost comes back to the doo men.

As I have said before Bobby you have workers and talkers only thing is the talkers out number the workers and guess which of those does all the moaning about how long it took to get there birds marked

Walter swanston Posted June 7, 2013 Author Report Posted June 7, 2013 Tell you what Henrick as president of my Fed.,secretary of my club and member of the SHU council I don't think I can be accused of not working for the pigeon fancy and by the way I am over 80 years of age.

dal2 Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Aye well you,ve had plenty practice at moaning then eh, over 80 yrs experience, by the way I am also sec of Fed ,Pres of club and these two jobs are a damn sight easier than trying to run a marking station.Come on mate. Walter is asking if their is any way of modernising the club!!! No for an arguement about who does what and when!!! Everybody should be very grateful to the men in the marking station and any sh** you have to put up with is out of order deffo, but thats not what walter is getting at. We found that if the marker of the race sheet stated which basket number he wanted the bird in then it saved any shouting? All it needs is a bit of communication when a basket becomes full?
Walter swanston Posted June 7, 2013 Author Report Posted June 7, 2013 If you want to knock moaners try somebody else Henrik I have never refused any job which has been apparent from lifting baskets to anything else.I merely wrote on this site that I thought and still think that the SNFC could do more for their members on the website and this seemed to attract a personal attack from you.
Henrik Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Problem with websites is they need someone who knows about them to update them, also I believe or have been told that it would cost a lot of money to update the site due to being ill advised when it was set up first. I also believe this would be better put in a letter to the Sec and then you may get something done, putting it on a forum will def not bring about the changes that you want
Walter swanston Posted June 7, 2013 Author Report Posted June 7, 2013 Well well and here's me thinking that's what pigeon forums are all about you know getting an exchange of views not an unjustified tirade of personal abuse.
geordie1234 Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Twitter is free and as a member of the snfc I would gladly put my name forward to do it as it would take a split second of my time to post a lib time etc
dal2 Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Twitter is free and as a member of the snfc I would gladly put my name forward to do it as it would take a split second of my time to post a lib time etc Well done geordie
Henrik Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Aye well maybe once the SNFC decide to get a Twitter account then we,ll give you a call Geordie, until then I,m afraid we,re stuck with what we have and that wont change until the next AGM. Maybe we,ll have a few from the Solway up to vote for it.

Walter swanston Posted June 7, 2013 Author Report Posted June 7, 2013 That's an idea Henrik, might come to the AGM once they decide on a venue for it.Always glad to meet anyone who has decided to slag me off for no reason.
The Transporter Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 If the members that were at Newhouse marking station put as much effort into carrying baskets to the transporter as thy do at putting messages on here the transporters would have been loaded a lot quicker
b.massey Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Anyone know a rough number count from section B... Was quiet when i was there
