Mealy Cock
Hi all. I may be restarting in the sport having taken early retirement, I thought I would look at the price of new lofts I foundthem very expensive, example; pent roof 18ft x 6ft nothing fancy £1,700, what I did find quite a few lofts for sale on eBay that were a fraction of there initial cost. Is wood so expensive to buy or is it just loft manufactures making large profits.
peter2010
I think unless you've got plenty spare cash your better building your own from scratch you will still make a big saving also you can have it to your spec atb Or you could hope brings you one lol

andy Burgess
timber is expensive (or can be),i dont think the manufacturers make huge profits .second hand would be my choice .
Pompey Mick
If you can turn your hand to a bit of chippying I would look at basic garden sheds and customise to suit. The last loft I bought was from RV Woodcraft and it was their 12X6 stock shed, and I fitted the traps and partitions to my personal preference. There are lots of shed manufacturers about, shop around and look for the more substantially built models especially the timber sparring & shiplap sizes. http://www.waltons.co.uk/garden-sheds&gclid=CLvFr5ntl7cCFXMctAodaxwAxQ&Pg=

Fly_caster
Hiya, Bought 2 lofts on my return to the sport in 2010. One was a "Mark & Paul" loft (Manchester) - 20', 3 sections with corridor and a tiled apex roof. Was approx. 15 years old I'd say when I got it, cost me £400. I also bought a 40' x 8'secondhand Blakes loft from a former member on here. It was just 4 years old. Full corridor, 5 dowelled sections and a corunduline apex roof for £1350. There is plenty of value out there if you look hard enough and transportation is normally easy enough to organise if the loft is originally sectionally built. Cheers, Steve

Guest pigeongirl
loft for sale on wda website due to bereavement If this is the same loft it sounds excellent and a bargain. Copied from pigeonland this is the advert. Due to the unfortunate passing of 74 year old Brian Morley of the West Auckland HS, Brian's loft and remaining birds are for sale. Brian's remaining relatives have insisted that all monies raised from his sale remain in the pigeon sport and are to go to his beloved racing pigeon club, West Auckland Homing Society. LOFT. The loft is still practically brand new having been purchased from Barnsley Lofts only 18 months ago for considerably more than the current asking price. It is 30' x 6', with Tiled Roof, and has 5 Sections. Two sections are complete with 12 sets of up and over boxes with sliding trays, in each section. Two Sections are complete with 30 Lift-Off Perches, in each section. One section has only been used as a corn store. The loft is all sectional, with wire mesh ceiling and sliding plywood panels to control ventilation. Buyer to dismantle, offers in the region of £3,000 are being invited. If you are interested in any of the above, then please contact sale organiser Richard Wade on 07862281011.
