JohnQuinn Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Just had a look at their web site and notice that Ronidazol 10% is one of the top sellers, a very strong antibiotic, over use of this type of thing will be the ruination of some lofts, the doos will be liable for every disease going because their immune system is shot to pieces. jmo.

JohnQuinn Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Positive Jim, it is used in Humans to treat Helicobacter Pilori, which causes stomach Ulcers. Believe me i have had to use it twice after having perforated ulcers.
Guest strapper Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 ronidazole is a canker treatment 5% sold in uk 10% over the water...may have changed hellicobacter and ulcer treatments Most of the treatment regimens include a medication called a proton pump inhibitor. This medication decreases the stomach's production of acid, which allows the tissues damaged by the infection to heal. Examples of proton pump inhibitors include lansoprazole (Prevacid®), omeprazole (Prilosec®), pantoprazole (Protonix®), rabeprazole (AcipHex®), dexlansoprazole (Dexilant®), and esomeprazole (Nexium®). metronidazole is often used..other name is flagyl....can be bought over the counter in spain...which is why many bring them tabs back with them...much cheaper.

All of the above is correct Strapper, but when you get a high Helicobacter count you are given Dual Antibiotics to clear it, one will usually be Penicillin based eg, Amoxicillin and the second is more often than not Ronidazole based, eg. Metronadozale. It has a terrible effect on your stomach when taking it as it make you feel sick as a pig until the course stops but it is an Antibiotic regardless of what else it gets used for as a veterinarian's cures.

JohnQuinn Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 I've been taking first of all Losec (Original Omeprazole) until some smart get from the NHS decided it was too expensive so changed it to just any Omeprazole which didnae do the job, so after about 2 years arguing with the doc he put me back on Losec, no more probs UNTIL the same smart get changed it again about 3 months later, ever since i've been on Lansoprazole 30mg, all in all i've been taking one form of inhibitor or another for 21 years straight now.

lanarkshire lad Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 no it dosent seem to be Jim not claased as an anti bioticI didn't think it was.
Novice Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 We have been having this discussion on out federation web site and the information seems to be confusing.I think there is a very subtle difference between antibacterial and antibiotic. However I have read many pages on the subject today and there is definately an opinion that Ronidazole is an antibiotic. This is really new to me.However the extract below was taken from a cat web site and indicates that Ronidazole is an antibiotic. Perhaps the first guy to speak to a Doctor or vet could report back. Ronidazole is not licensed for use in cats; it is a poultry antibiotic. It also tastes very bad and should be provided in capsules rather than as an oral liquid so as to avoid the taste.
