Guest RJefferies Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 This young bird came home 2 days after a race. It was badly savaged by a BOP and the dried blood on its body was quite hard. My dad decided to save the brave soldier and race her again in 2013, as a reward for the courage and determination she showed to make it home. She has not raced since this incident but trained with the other pigeons and has been tossed from about 100km. He gave her a 1/4 paracetamol tablet, tied her legs and wings down with elastic bands, removed the dried blood, cleaned the wounds with surgical spirits, and stiched her up.
andy Burgess Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 good on him , have had them pay dividends after good repair.
bigjamie Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 thats what our poor we birds have to put up with with these fckn bops
Guest grizzler Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 well done for going to the trouble of saving the bird, hope it rewards you in the future
WulDon Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Hope it rewards you in 2013. some do, they dont want to make same mistake twice
billt Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Excellent repair, I do like to see good needle-work . Why do you presume that was a BOP attack, looks very like a collision injury to me
Guest geordiejen Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 well done mate most cases it looks worse than it actually is.when they are cleaned up and you can see what you need to do it makes it easier.first pics the hen looks fecked.
Fly_caster Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Agreed, looks like a wire hit to me, but who knows ??? Great repair job though - well done. Steve
Guest RJefferies Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 It was definately a BOP, she was hurt on her left shoulder/wing as well. If you look at the picture where she is standing-up, on the right-hand side we applied some ointment to the small wound, which looked like that of a claw/talon.
Guest paulrstokes Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 Hi Ridwan You planning to still get up to Jo Burg for the million dollar mate, would be good to meet up. Paul P.S good job on the bird
