I keep saying that it cant get any worse but year on year it it does and in reality percie has only increased because we supply the food at the required time for them every year .

We have the power to strike back legally by controlling the food supply.Take pigeon off the menu at peak times and their numbers will fall as will the number of songbirds.Keeping our birds in during winter will make little difference. It's before they nest, while they are rearing and above all when they are teaching their young to kill that we need to act.

Vincent can you tell me have you seen a peregrine strike a batch of pigeon's ?
VMS Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 Vincent can you tell me have you seen a peregrine strike a batch of pigeon's ?Aye seen it a few years back Lanarkshire batches flying over our lofts percy chasing them all over the place between us and Law,the pigeons split but carried on no batch turning or anything like it.

Vincent my birds were bombed outside my loft two or three year ago the pigeons dived into tree's at tremendous speed. Someone told me of a game keeper walking through the woods he heard an almighty crash and popping noises after having a look there were pigeons lying on the ground some with wings taken clean off other's were speared onto branches. Total carnage. Until fanciers see it for themselves then they will blame clashing and all the other rubbish. Next year I will try to get it on video camera and show you what damage they can do. Hopefully I will be back in the sport in the future but will there be a future? As novice has said big big change's need to take place in the sport.

As novice has said big big change's need to take place in the sport.Hello m8 as you know I have always trained on m74 and have seen two different kind of strikes. One when peregrine hits into batch like a missile and the pigeons explode in all directions.have also seen peregrine herd a batch of pigeons not allowing them to leave the area till a single pigeon leaves the batch and then it was joined by another 2. IMO first just to kill and second to train its young.
Guest stb- Posted September 9, 2012 Report Posted September 9, 2012 Vincent can you tell me have you seen a peregrine strike a batch of pigeon's ?frank a lot have never seen the damage it does mines dive into the woods like rockets just seeing the bassa going over they knock eyes out burst wings dent keels bruised all over and some just dont come back out prob dead or brocken wing etc , i have seen the pigeon come down into the feilds that hard they actually bounce up when they hit the ground , sheer terror , sparrs are a pain but dont fighten birds like a percy
