THE SHOW COMMITTEE HAVE REALLY TRIED TO OBTAIN THE SERVICES OF TOP FANCIERS, DEWAR TROPHY WINNERS, NATIONAL WINNERS, COMBINE WINNERS, ALL EXPERIENCED RACING PIGEON PEOPLE, IN THE HOPE THAT THE RACING CLASSES WILL RESULT IN RACING PIGEONS WINNING THEM.

THE CLASSES 5, 6, 9, 10 AND 11 MUST HAVE BEEN RACED UNDER S.H.U. RULES AND YOU HAVE TO PROVE THAT THEY HAVE IN FACT RACED. THE SHOW IS TO ENCOURAGE SCOTTISH FANCIERS TO ENTER THEIR PIGEONS KNOWING, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, YOU HAVE EVERY CHANCE OF WINNING.

Its ok saying youve got the right judges Dougie, ive witnessed supposed top fliers before put up blatant dipped pigeons. As for flown certificates, well these are easily obtained by anyone. The only way to do it is, racing pigeons only that have appeared on a result, whether its the last place on a club result from 50 miles or a national result, it isnt relevant, just the proof that its definately been raced.

What are the classes. Is there only 5 racing classes?

NO THEIR ARE 11 RACING CLASSES, WHY NOT TRY TO PUT TOGETHER A SPECIAL RACING CLASS FOR PIGEONBASICS MEMBERS AND GET DEREK TO JUDGE IT.IAM NOT TRYING TO BE SMART IT IS JUST AN IDEA.

No probs

are the powers that be not putting the classification up because on the information so far is 11 racing classes 5 of them flown which makes 6 of them likely to race which means more classes for dipped doos than flown doos

Never understood "likely to fly xxx miles". Saw a class last winter likely to fly 500 miles. Some of them couldnae fly 500 yards.

most of them dont even get out to fly round the loft

Humans being what we are, like to Pigeon Hole everything, so we (fanciers) are inclined to say a long cast pigeon is more suitable to distance racing and a short cast powerful bird is better for sprinting.

When ye think of it along the same lines as Eyesign then its easier to get it, its just a theory invented by men because we need to know (THINK we know) everything about doos when in reality!!!

Im looking forward to this event, it really is great fun competing in the shows in the winter months and Scotland needs a big show like this one.Im sure it will be a brilliant day out.

Another idea that could be put in place if this show is going to be a yearly event. Similar to what NEHU show offers its members. With it being an SHU show it could have a cocks clas and a hens class for birds that have scored SNFC top 100-150 or SNRPC. Would be a good class for the racing man. And even another 2 classes for any birs to have won a 1 2 3 in racing 2012. Club or fed. NEHU have these types of classes and they seemed well supported 2012 when I was down

i would like to enter but this would count me and plenty others out although im a member of the SHU my fed is RPRA and race under their rules ,mines are all 100% racing pigeons and with this rule in place i would have to enter into likliest classes against dipped pigeons which is not fair.

WHY NOT TRY TO CONTACT ARCHIE AND PUT THIS SUGGESTION TO HIM. THE SHU IS HOPING TO MAKE THIS AN ANNUAL EVENT IF THE MEMBERS SUPPORT THE SHOW. THE SHOW COMMITTEE HAVE PUT A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT INTO RAISING SPONSORSHIP AND CONTACTING TRADE STANDS. DETAILS WILL BE ANNOUCED SHORTLY,YOU WILL BE PLEASANTLY SUPRISED HOW MUCH YOUR WEE RACING PIGEON COULD WIN AT THE SHOW.

Solway have made a donation to the show I hope other feds do the same.

I certainly don't agree with dipped dooes being entered in racing classes but

If the fancier wants to waste his money that's down to him .a good judge won't

Be long in discarding them.

An any age class might work Archie, depending on whether the SHU would allow the winner into the "final" so to speak. If it was a PB members only class i doubt they would allow the winner up to the top table to be judged for best in show, JMO!!. An any age class for PB members would attract a good entry from fanciers who have perhaps got too many for a particular class so could enter them into the PB class to have an interest in that class as well regardless of the doos age, and maybe sex too.???

Dont think there is LIKELIEST classes if Ive heard right.Only proven racers and show pigeons.Well done to the show committee in recognising whats needed in a modern show nowadays. Also heard, theres plenty of prize money to be won.

as you know del i never raced my youngsters this year that would mean i could not show any of these ? even stock pigeons that fanciers have would not get a chance if it was only proven racers .the judges mentioned are top class and should be able to pick out any watered down birds without making the show raced only ?
