andy Burgess Posted March 13, 2012 Author Report Posted March 13, 2012 think its 14 before any mixing, race shows etc, and every 12 monthsso if done as young , would they then be covered as yearlings ??
clockman Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 SURE AS LONG AS DONE YEARLY "youngbirds done as they leave nest "then all birds done in october Vaccination must be carried out strictly in accordance with the Manufacturers Instructionsissued with the vaccine which must be a Ministry Licensed Vaccine for pigeons.

Guest IB Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 so if done as young , would they then be covered as yearlings ?? It depends on when they were done as YBs. If it was left e.g. till June, then that bird could race until June the following year without being done again. Mine get done as YBs and their next one is usually when they are 2 Yo, around January / February, prior to pairing up.

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 Yes so do you not race your yearlings ?

dal2 Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 so do you not race your yearlings ?How would they appear on your jag sheet that you will hand in before racing? Or do you take the yb one in as proof?
THE FIFER Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 in short once you jag a bird it lasts 12 months,
Guest IB Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 so do you not race your yearlings ? I race my yearlings Tam. Their jag as YBs covers the OB programme.
Guest IB Posted March 13, 2012 Report Posted March 13, 2012 if you dont vaccinate them before the 12 months say june then you cannot race any of your feds longer races with yearlings or any comeback races after that datealso you cannot show untill they have been vaccinated do you vaccinate all your old birds in jan/febevery year except your yearlings Our YB racing does not begin till last week in July. Provided they're done 2 weeks before the YB racing begins, that does them for YB season, and the OB season till 2nd week in July the following year. I vaccinate my OBs in Jan/Feb., usually a couple of weeks before pairing them up. The only yearlings I do are the latebreds.
PATTY BHOY Posted June 2, 2012 Report Posted June 2, 2012 Is there no harm to the birds mixing different vaccines?
Guest IB Posted June 3, 2012 Report Posted June 3, 2012 With the shortage of Colombovac over the years, fanciers haven't had any choice other than swop backwards and forwards between that and Nobilis. Both products are similar, and licensed.
gulkie Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 My young are jagged around about may/June and then I jag all my birds again in febHave done for years without any probs
john cumming Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 i thought it was to be done at least 14 days before racing started but not certain ?? its to be done annualy as far as im aware john
walterboswell59 Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 SURE AS LONG AS DONE YEARLY "youngbirds done as they leave nest "then all birds done in octoberno its wrongto jag birds coming out the nest they must all be done at the same time

andy Burgess Posted April 6, 2013 Author Report Posted April 6, 2013 why ?look at the "Pigeon health questions" thread , its a long read ,but will explain all , and it may teach you something ,i and many others have had our eyes opened , happy reading
big blue bar Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 IB you ve been lucky leaving your y/birds so late before jagging them , I see what your saying about not having to jag again till they are 2 yo , we did the same till our y/bird picked up pmv from bird we took in . we ll never take that risk again . vaccinate ASAP after they are weaned
