andy Burgess Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 what would you honestly say it costs to raise each youngster ?
ALF Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 IT WOULD ALL DEPEND ON WHAT YOU FEED THE PARENTS AND HOW MUCH YOU GET IT FOR I WOULD THINK ANDY???
podgy Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 £10, in money and a lot of tlc sounds about right to me , podgy
ALF Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 CANT SEE IT BEING AS HIGH AS A TENNER MYSELF AS I DONT REMEMBER SPENDING £300 ON FEEDING OR SUPPLEMENTS REARING MY 1ST ROUND LAST YEAR NO WAY :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:
Wiley Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 It depends on how you rear, I suppose? Many of my pairs will gobble peanuts and I fill up there pots twice a day. Peanuts are not cheap. Corn wise is cheap tic beans and maples with a breeding mixture. The cost then goes into exPense with supplementation, however I use norban products and they cost very little and do not need high quantities but in my opinion there the best on the market. However if I purchasing young birds to race 30 quid in my opinion is the most I am willing to pay!
kirky Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 this was asked last year and at the time i had a round of eggs due to hatch i noted every thing i spent on corn ect for the next 28 days, after deducting for corn that i would have fed obs anyway, it was just under £5 per ybs.
Guest lambrechts31 Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 EXPENSE IS NO OBJECT WHERE MY PIGEONS ARE CONCERNED, IF I FEEL THEY NEED IT THEY GET IT, DOESNT MATTER HOW MUCH, BUT THATS JUST ME...........
airdrie2 Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 DO YOU COUNT IN ENJECTING THEM RINGS ECT
just ask me Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 also feeding the parents all year round they would not be there only for the parents
dwh Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 NEVER REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT WOULD SAY DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR FEEDING
harky Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 EXPENSE IS NO OBJECT WHERE MY PIGEONS ARE CONCERNED, IF I FEEL THEY NEED IT THEY GET IT, DOESNT MATTER HOW MUCH, BUT THATS JUST ME........... Your right their, after all you only get out what you put in .
Guest geordiejen Posted February 9, 2012 Report Posted February 9, 2012 this is how i would work it out.say 10 pairs of breeders, all cankered coccied and wormed before breeding, whats the cost of that?so thats 20 spartrex tabs abox of 50 is £19.00,small bottle of coccoid 112ml£7.50 harkers wormers £9.00 a bottle.if nestpans dont have to be bought then nest felts should be renewed every season at least,£3.00 for 5 and 10 required.so now the birds are introduced to the breeding loft.paired up and treading is done and eggs laid in around 10 days.the use of calcium supplements be it tabs or just the use of grit and minerals comes to a small cost although black minerals are quite pricey.youngsters get half a canker tab at 3 weeks of age so that about most the pack of spartrex gone.probably a whole bag of pigeon feed will be used in the first round.if you want to add in the cost of rings too then ide say probably about 7 or 8 quid per bird id say.these youngsters will need coccied and wormed too at some point.then their is the cost of training and entering races if the bird is to then be kept as a yearling or an adult before selling on or giving away.
Diamond dave Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 Don't forget to add in a percentage of your club/fed fees and RPRA subs etc. D.D.
