At the end of last season I bought a pair of Molveld Aarden stock birds and a pair of Mel Bell of Coldingham stock birds, I intend to cross them with each other, ie. Molveld x Mel Bell

Mel Bell x Molveld, and see what happens, as I already have 4 pair of direct Molvelds in the stock loft, I would like to see what they produce when crossed with another breed.

thanks.... they look the piece....lovely looking grizzles and luckily I do have the papers. The older cock is very well bred infact its granny was white diamond. The others are out out of 'splash' and 'black eyes'.......but papers dont fly very far!...the proof will be in the season ahead!!!!

check the john and alex mellor site about the rollands this is very important to read ther history especially before you pair them as rolland janseen says never to pair the whites meaning grizzle etc to another grizzle and if anyone would know better he would.

Kipps - I obtained 5 older young birds last year and lost 2 trying to break them. 1 of the last 3 didn't make the grade but the remaining 2 went into the stock loft. Going to cross them in with my Van Hees and a line from Jimmy White through a hen of his Sir Colin lines.

Is it just me or does anyone else "can't wait" to see the results of thier pairings?

know two boys over here had them the very best of them needless to say they just didnt do what was asked of them and these fanciers are top racing lads so it wasnt them it was the birds ,so be very wary of them you could waste years.

Hey Victorious, Thanks for the warning mate. Were you referring to the Kipps or the Van Hees.

I bought the Kipps in because they are small pigeons that handle so light. The natural feather condition is also very silky.

I struggle through the winter with damp conditions through condensation (brick shed) but these birds have never lost thier condition.

I hope to prove you wrong but it's like everything, only time will tell....

Good luck with your Van Loons and your Kirkys - hope you have a great season and may all your eggs be fertile.
