alex wight Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 Fife fed have a proposal in to change racing from the east coast to a more central/west route. What is the pros and cons for this?? Regards alex
gordi.b Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 alex , the country is saturated in b.o.p so don,t think it matters what route we go .
alex wight Posted December 31, 2011 Author Report Posted December 31, 2011 alex , the country is saturated in b.o.p so don,t think it matters what route we go . there's no doubting that mucker, its not getting any easier thats for sure.
THE FIFER Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 think it would be better for young birds as lots of young birds coming up the East coast line which is like a bow string to FIFE,and drop in Newcastle, BOP are all over so we should forget about them when planning routes JMO
frank-123 Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 when you say centre west what's the race points?

I listen to all the fanciers that experienced the race programme, and it was apparently good racing. The thing is, it doesnt matter where we go, i fear racing is going to very hard no matter what. altvb :emoticon-0167-beer:
hotrod Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 maybe north east wind had something to do with that birds not 100% fit and ready for it jmo100%correct mate that race that far at that time of june is always going to be a sticky one then the wind, fk a disaster waiting to happen, and thats what happened . the snrpc race is no different on the same day/weekend some horrific returns as well
Guest stevie-b Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 totally agree wi brian its crasy where pigeons are being dragged about too in the inland nationals tottally crasy to drag them off the line of flight for 1 race and it also affects birdages in later races wi the losses

alex wight Posted January 1, 2012 Author Report Posted January 1, 2012 yes i am and thankyou but just look at the returns on that side ? need say no more I have put this post up for feed back, like your own, so that i can get a feeling for the proposal. I,ve never experienced this programme so needed to ask the question from the guys that fly or have flown it. As it stands at the moment i,m getting mixed feed back (as its on another site too). However the thing that i dont want to see happening, is it being detrimental to the pigeons, due to change for change. These replies, including your own, are taken seriously and it will help me make a final decision at the agm next weekend. How ever as i,m the seconder of the proposal, i need to speak to the proposer as to whether its worth putting it forward. Thanks again, alex.

ALF Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 It will be hard to get any decent info unless any feds fae your side of the country race east to west??? If not i think you are wasting your time getting a true picture of how things will go???
Roland Posted January 1, 2012 Report Posted January 1, 2012 Think there is, and obviously always will be, excuses for loses. Natural I suppose. But the reality is that on certain days regardless losses / smashes will occur. Never mind blaming this or that, one has to accept the fact. One very basic.... though not wanted to be warranted by many - is if a pigeon. youngster or not, can home from a 20 mile chuck, home from a 50 mile race, then that is all one needs to know about that bird. If fit and healthy, then it will show up just how good it is regards racing on THAT day. Only healthy birds can win, only contented birds can become fit and healthy and conditioned... which has it's own built in motivation. They are the real essentials, not Lib points etc. OUTSIDE of unfair playing fields. Wind and location can't be beat, one can only harness / alter the sails. Those that spout otherwise are those in good positions and 'Leading the gullible often. Many yearlings fly over 500 miles having first race... 650 miles 2 year olds having one or two, but EVEN first race with great success. So I think the real question is COSTS and not vote according to how one benefits... but again that will never happen!
