Eyesign Question

Hi all,

This question is soley directed to those fanciers that take an interest in eyesign :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: You can PM me if you want with an answer.

"I have a pigeon with different coloured eyes (i.e., each eye is a different colour) and would like to know if this has any significance as far as eyesign is concerned? Is it just a freak, lol, or a genetic defect or is there something more to it?

I am relatively new to the sport of pigeon racing. I know eyesign is a very contentious issue. My personal belief is to pair best to best and not according to eyesign, but as we all know, the best racer is not always the best breeder ;)

Thanks

Do you mean a normal eye and a "bull" eye or 2 normal eyes of different colours.

Bull eye normally accompanies pied pigeons and they can have 1 normal and 1 bull frequently.

2 different coloured normal eyes would be more unusual.

Probably just disregard this birds eyes when selecting a mate.

Thanks for the replies. I am a novice in all aspects of the sport and will have to do more research on eyesign. I don't even know what a "Bull" eye is lol. The pigeon is not a Pied but a Blue Bar. I reckon it normal eyes but odd colours. Eyesign seems really deep and i reckon it will take a while before i get to the bottom of it, lol. Thanks once again.

CAN YOU POUT A PHOTO OF EACH EYE ON I HAVE BEEN TOLD IF THARE 2 DIFRENT COULERD EYES THE WEEKEST SIDE WOULD BE THE TRUE VALUE FOR BREEDING

A bull eye is like the eye of a bull. There is a lack of pigment which shows as black but you can see the true colour of the eye if you look at the eye with the beak facing you.

ie looking at the eye at an angle 90 degrees different from normal.

KB is correct bast your assessment on the weakest eye.

Concentrate on performance first and take it from there. Study of eyes is interesting but there are many more aspects of a pigeon to be taken into consideration.

I admit to knowing nothing of eye-sign,have entered birds in shows with what i regarded as a good eye and have won with them ,but do not put much importance to them, not many eye-sign experts that have won nationals, for me as long as they have two and they are both focused on the west coast :emoticon-0136-giggle:
