Sorry can't help you on this one Andy, always flew natural, threatened to go roundabout last season but threw the towel in before I started breeding.A problem when your on your own is no one at the loft when birds arrive home from training and twice as much training hens/cocks.

I fly 12 widowhood cocks to one loft and 9 pair of naturals to an adjoining loft. I find the widowers a lot easier to manage, ie, out for 1hr flying morning and evening, and can go to the race every weekhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0137-clapping.gif how ever, although I believe natural to be suited to the chanel races, it is more time consuming, and birds due to nest condition may or may not go to races. Also, if you loose a cock/hen, then their partner can be affected. JMO

Also once racing has started, I do not train my widowers, but continue to train my natural team.

But I do still fly both systemshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif

How succesfull are they, do the widowers beat the naturals and do they win in the club and Fed?

For last few years I've started on widowhood and paired up for channel racing and also raced the hens 8 times out of 10 the hens beat the cocks , never had any problem with a cock and hen coming around same time , if anything hens tend to be better trappers and cocks follow them in ;) last old bird channel race a cock came to win and was a bit clock shy he lost me the race my second bird a hen came straight in a won 2nd club the cock followed behind taking 3rd place but he came to win , so basically if your trappings right at the home end then your birds should trap no matter if there's hens with them or not :)

as I have stated on a few occasions, this year has been my worst year ever, the first time I will not be called up to collect a trophy, why? simply did not put enough into them this year, so no one to blame but myself, I just lacked the motivation, and was near to calling it a dayhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0138-thinking.gif how ever, prior to this season I have held my own in club, and have topped the Fed, and section on the odd occasion.

My widowers do tend to be the first team to reach the loft, and there for do not have the problem of landing with a natural hen. my widowers have always been good trappershttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/egyptian.gif just a bit behind the top men in the Fedhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0179-headbang.gif so I need to make an effort this season, and put a lot more work into my birds, and aim higher, and progress on last seasons results, which should not be too hard to achieve.http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/cry-blow.gif

I have flown widowhood and natural, and roundabout and natural to the same loft (different sections)

and although the naturals did well loft flying (45 minutes morning and evening) we had no trapping system as such (open door) and their trapping was not the greatest (we also had ETS) it was a small section only 4'6" wide

We had our best results from the distance with the cocks on natural.

With the hens - on roundabout

But we have also scored with a couple of natural cocks in sprint races

Hens on eggs etc - never seemed to work for us !

But all aspects of natural didn't seem to be worth the effort put in, from cleaning out, training, motivation, it was too much like hard work

Last season and this has been roundabout only - having said that - our last two seasons have not been our best !
