W.D. Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Hi Guys,I was just wondering if any of you have any good ideas or advice on how your Fed or Club helps to reduce the costs of racing, transport etc.?As its coming up to pre AGM meetings etc. thought it would be a good idea if you were willing to share your thoughts on this? Thanks in advance for any advice.W.D.
OLDYELLOW Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Feds can see if they can joint convoy with other feds to save money , can also have young bird sales to generate cash . Clubs all depends where your club house is , many ways to make a few quid in pub by raffles , football cards , alphabet draws , lottery bonus ball number and so on breeder buyer races , show races , many ways to make club funds
Guest Tooshy Boy Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 DONT SEE WHY NOT THE . S.N.F.C.BEEN DOING IT FOR YEARS.///

Only the small amount owe guys willing to go oot there way ti help though.

K J Young Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Introduce a convoying fee , and do away with Birdage, then your fed have the money at start of season , also we run a fed raffle where the members get 70% of the tickets sold back. I.e sell £50.00 of tickets and they get £35 towards there fee,s for the year. Our club runs a bonus ball every week this covers all our costs in April
dal2 Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Feel there might be an oppurtunity for the small Solway and the mighty Lanarkshire to give us minnows a lift later on in the season!!!! If Danny doesny get it overturned :egyptian:

K J Young Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 Our fed ballochmyle had joint convoying with lanarkshire this year and was very successful down the east route. Just have to wait and see which way our fed decide to fly next year .

K J Young Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 In my opinion it does,nt matter which route we fly, most fancier will use some excuse , the route we fly , the hawks ,da,da,da. If more looked in the mirror and stopped blaming everything else . The doo game would be much more enjoyable.

The Up North Combine convoys 24 federations every week - and we pay twice as much as you lot to race our pigeons Big is definitely not cheaper
K J Young Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 We usually don,t decide our programme until the first week in February, after we no where the snfc races will be .

Walter swanston Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 The Solway Federation race programme will be decided on 20th. November at the AGM in Lockerbie town hall (very handy for Hoddom members) I would hope for a large turnout as there could be a vote to stick to the same programme for 3 years,I know of two proposed race programmes maybe three. As far as the finances of the federaion are concerned it should be remembered that apart from the members` fees the birdage is the only income the federation has and out of that income it has to pays all expenses, keeping the transporter on the road, diesel etc.The birdage is set by the management committee ( I do not intend to publicise it on a public site). In a successful year any money left over is transferred into a fund for the payment of long term projects.
Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Glasgow fed pays £100 up front, this helps secure the race program. The flip side of this however is if you lose most of your pigeons early, there is very few go to last races.Small conveyors are the cause of most of our troubles. (or at least it does not help) I for one think there is safety in numbers. two /three hundred pigeons liberated over the border, is asking for it,and Glasgow, certainly got it, over the last couple years. Unsure what the plan is for next reason but they will hopefully look at all possibilities, in order to improve the situation.
OLDYELLOW Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 I also think that although in idea the upfront payment is good , it doesn't account for non flying lofts as these would have to pay the same even if having a year out
REDCHEQHEN Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 your probably subsidising smaller feds been so big wont you be in GYA boundary ??? Nearest club for GYA is Stockton - about 15 miles from me The Up North Combine has 16 transporters - the shorter fliers subsidise the longer fliers
REDCHEQHEN Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Do you pay Birdage or a one of fee You pay fees for club - fed - UNC and NEHU membership fees and then birdage
