Anyone had there drinker water frozen this morning ?????

Here's a little tip I have for checking your lofts water first thing without entering the loft , get a plastic beaker fill it with water and put it at your back door if it's frozen then your loft water generally is :) Then you can get straight on to it and change your water , I know most where possible empty all there water last thing and refill first thing :) I guess winter will be as hard as was last year no doubt , boy was I sick of changing frozen icecube drinkers lol :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang:

I was told if you put a ping pong ball in the drinker it helps to stop the water being frozen in the morning worth a try.

think you'd need a few in as it only stays unfrozen around the ball :)

I use a 40 watt light bulb under my waterer because if i didnt have it heated, it would freeze right after I left for work and its still dark, so the birds wouldnt get any water. Alot of people here heat their water.

 

This is the one I use, it can easily be homemade if you take the time also:

put polystyrene under the bowl, make sure its not sticking out so birds can pick at it,

i keep 3 things in a outside shed that go in the water fot the birds,last week when drinkers were frozen.mult vits frozen solid but cider vinegar and johnsons pigeon tonic were unfrozen.
