Rooster J. Cogburn Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Whats the forums thoughts on racing from Belgium into Scotland? On the face of it all the SNFC and SCC races from Belgium seem to have been pretty successful returns wise.As for the results at National level each of the seven section winners usually feature on the first and second page.Is it too easy using the shortest channel crossing?? or is this a good thing?? Should we be racing from the likes of Ypres,Brussels and Liege?? Is Belgium the new France??

I wouldnae mind seein the 2010 programme for 2012 with the exception of dropping an inland race and only having one-the week before the Kings Cup(Eastbourne) We'll have to wait and see, hope to send regardless if the birds are right at the time
Roland Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 A good idea... When we flew into Belgium due to the foot and mouth outbreak and France wouldn't allow us there. The two main things that stood out was the different lofts that succeeded and the ones normally hugging the top rungs were down the ladder a mite. This proved very easily the fact that 'Wind' made all the difference. 2. Those on committees and the favoured few were in up roar. The letters arriving in protest to the RPRA etc. were soggy being soaked in tears. even new 'Nationals' were formed to offset these 'Upstarts' that were suddenly dominating the top of the ladder. Needless to say the RPRA soon stopped this route and all the 'Old School' were appeased lol. True and fact!So it would happen in Scotland the same. Indeed I doubt very much if it ever got of the ground as the 'Leaders' would defend their location, and as per norm, the followers would such up to the glibb crap that tickles their ears! JMO
frank-123 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Ypres defo ok, for the Gold Cup always Reims for me and Clermont or Beauvais for last race. sounds good to me i would have one inland national race two weeks before the gold cup then if your brave enough you could get them back into the gold cup it might boost the numbers
budgie Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Ypres ,Reims, Nantes and forget aboot the West Routes being branded on other threads.
knoxjn Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 why do you like ypres so much andy ??? lol
budgie Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 why do you like ypres so much andy ?The history of the Place and the presentation of the Burgomeister Trophy to the SNFC in memory of our fallen hero,s and also where its sits in Belguim its the ideal distance for first timers.
Henrik Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 why do you like ypres so much andy ??? lolSeems to have been a very successfull racepoint since it was first introduced and commemorates the fallen from the war, the birdage has also grown each year I think I,m right in saying. Would hope this race is in the programme for the forseeable future.

Rooster J. Cogburn Posted October 18, 2011 Author Report Posted October 18, 2011 How good a race was Liege for the Gold Cup??I was only around 11 at the time,we joined the SNFC the year after and its the only yearbook I have missing Dunno where it is. Remember Sandy Watson from my fed was in the top 10.It was won in Sec C,Section A 2nd?? Section E 5th??First pigeon in the North was 58th open What were the returns like??
