Guest Gareth Rankin Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 As Dorchester is not available you are welcome to come to Portsmouth, a similar distance but 60ml to the east of Dorchester, it is a wide open site next to the Solent with no wires in the vicinity. Yes Mick that would have been my proposal, of the two sites it would have been the Bedhapton site, southsea looks fantastic but i am led to believe that peregrines are a problem in the cliffs and occasionally mist can be a problem as it is so close to the sea.
yeboah Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Portsmouth looks a great liberation spot, would be good if the solway could go with lanarkshire to that one,it was proposed as a national race point last year as it is dead centre and no chance of a holdover like eastbourne with an east wind
Guest bigda Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Lancaster now has no liberation site which is maybe a blessing. Sartilly also has no liberation site and federations now use Carantan as its replacement. Sure these will be sorted out at the next fed meeting. Also Dorchester has been taken of the RPRA listings for liberations.why did you propose it then, you must have checked it out
ALF Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 i for one got cot out when the vote whent for west and dident bring a ready made up race program i think the other members where the same but after all the back slapping and chearing stoped i think its a good program pout together by the body of the hall that was left the jump to stafford got over looked but i think if wee all get together wee could tweek it now its west lets all get together and surport each other and the fed and the race control team who ever thay are so all the best to all the lanarkshire members and take a quote from lenon this is just the begining not the end lol I THINK THAT WAS ME WHEN WE SCORED THE EQUALISER TODAY :egyptian: :egyptian: :egyptian:
greenlands Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 You lads could have Garstang as an alternative to Lancaster ??
Guest bigda Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 i think, we will be taking the midland birds with us
K J Young Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Newbury & Portsmouth for the last two inland races will be proposed at the snfc meeting
Guest bigda Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Newbury & Portsmouth for the last two inland races will be proposed at the snfc meetingvery good
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 why did you propose it then, you must have checked it out one day your info will be right, or perhaps if you attended the meeting then you would have known that i didn't put those race points forward.
budgie Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Well with the 2012 race programme decided you may have to think about the families you race as this West Route is a Grave Yard as was 2008 when over 85 % of our Old pigeons Went AWOL.With regards to alternative race points Lancaster-Ingleton,Leyland-Charnock,Dorchester-Portsmouth and Sartilly-Falaise.Young Birds will end up going back down the East Route forget about the shi-e 5 East Winds you all know why the birds went missing and i wonder who will be brave enough to take the Controllers Job which i think should be done by outsider who has no interest in Lanarkshire Fed.

greenlands Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Newbury & Portsmouth for the last two inland races will be proposed at the snfc meetingWe fly Marlborough instead of Newbury, about the same distance but ten mile or so West of Newbury. Not a bad race point,Newbury might be better, keep the birds away from the Welsh side, once they get in there for some reason the don't get back out and any reported are usually in the Anglesey area. One thing in our favour the Welsh North Road now fly East to West if you get your birds up soon enough you can miss them.

frank-123 Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 Frank whats your thoughts on the controlling being done by external fancier which i am quite sure we could approach.?if Jim decides to Stand Down. No matter who takes the job on we should support him 100 percent The fed needs to make sure he has the correct information to do the job it will be slightly easier down the west as you don't have so many Feds to watch out for But let's get the met office on board to help the guy

JohnQuinn Posted October 16, 2011 Author Report Posted October 16, 2011 I'm against any outsider doing our race controlling Andy, we are the biggest Fed in the country and there are plenty of capable men to do the work in the Fed. The problems will remain the same regardless of who is doing the controlling, as soon as there is a bad race, and there WILL be bad races, the members will be screaming for blood, an outsider would just tell us he's off when the criticism started and that would mean finding a replacement mid season. No doubt the job would quickly become a poison chalice that no one wants, member or outsider alike. jmo mind!

Its only useful if we had Met Office equipment to predict the forecast, without it we're back to doing it the way we do now. IMO its all one what we do, we WON'T get better than Jim Hannah.
tyson Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 there,s nothing wrong with the controller that you have the man puts the welfare of the birds first but if yous want to put a chuck up charlie on the job then that is up to yous
