alex wight Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 I,ve just been informed by a fancier in ayrshire, that the pigeon he gave me (with his ring on) is back with him due to being put in the stray basket. Brilliant effort, but the doo was wing stamped, so why didnt i get a phone call to tell me where it was. I have been to Edinburgh twice and leven once to pick up young birds after i had a horrendous training toss. The decent thing would have been to phone me and see if i could come and collect it, however i now have the hassle of arranging spds to pick it up, at more cost than it should have been. Its the first thing i check for when getting a stray, its not hard. So to the person that has done this i half thank you for returning the doo, but it would have been nice to be returning the correct owner. Rant over.................
ALF Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME LAST YEAR WITH AN ABERDEEN YB I HAD FROM DJW ON THIS SITE IT WAS STAMPED ON 3 FLIGHTS CLEARLY (LOW WATERS LANARKSHIRE FED) AND WAS STILL SENT BACK TO ABERDEEEN IN THE STRAY BASKET I HAD A PM FROM IAN McKAY TO SAY HE COULD CLEARLY READ THE WING STAMP!!
greenlands Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 I had two SU11S birds in yesterday, one wing stamped,I phoned the bloke who informed me that the other pigeon was from the same club.Hopefully they should be with thier respective owners this evening. Some thing similar happened to me a few years ago luckily I didn't have far to travel to collect the bird,NEHU rung and transfered, a young pied with a lot of white flights ,stamped on at least six.Reported to the NEHU and the bloke who reported it knew me very well. When I collected it I mentioned the wing stamps ???????????? I didn't see them, they even showed through the overlapping flights, thick tw*t. Lindsay

Rant over................. personally i wouldnt pay for it... i wing stamp all mine also, and got one in stray basket this week, had the fancier bothered to phone i would have either collected the same day or arrange SPDS if it was two far away, i like to get them back asap... then there is a bit of hope getting them back to a race, as it turns out this pigeon struggled up to the landing board this morning probabaly due to wing stiffness due to sitting in a basket all week, so no chance getting him raced again this year, so thanks a bunch!!!
