As most of you all know i moved house and brough my birds with me they have been in the lofts now 6 weeks and are sitting on eggs ready to hatch!

Im getting very bored not letting my doos out and was thinking about trying to break them this week, Do you think i should get all my youngsters from them first or should try to break them

Too big a risk. You could lose your youngsters. Let them rear this round, its bound to help bond them to the new loft.

have a very simelar problem m8 since my dad died 8 weeks ago I have had to build a loft at mine , let the birds rear the young birds from the eggs they were sitting on , so to date I have 24 yb shifted 11 still to come over, moved 16 hens today, will bring the rest over the next week , then re pair here , then try and break them all so no old bird racing this year but hopefully next year.

NO way George, rear that round of youngsters and think about breaking birds after, If you're bored get out on the road for more running in prep. for the big fight ;)

cheers m8 i might leave it till the second round is done then because i will only have about 12 youngsters after the first round

Good idea mate, this time next year you'll have a team going

its no as fun wae yer doos locked up lol

mind you a few weeks i could have my first round out

Thats the way to go, when those youngsters are flying out that will be their home and a good pull for those you are trying to break

Broke pigeons never race the same!

Tried it and know people who have tried it.

broke pigeons have won races but the majority I never any good mate. If it was me I would wait until you have all the young birds ya want then keep the best in stock and get rid of the rest. If you are sure you want to break, wait until you have all the young that you need off them first and expect phone calls if you are gonna race them :emoticon-0179-headbang:

Hi George

Has there been any loft left at the old address, if so then get them out now but make sure you keep a couple of doos to cover the eggs that you have left. You will find that they will go down once to the old address then head back to the new location, that said you will get a couple of stubborn buggars that will need to be let into the old loft, but once or twice doing this then will soon learn especially of you put a white sheet over your head and act like casper the ghost.

If there is no loft at the old address then you really do have a choice to make, but i would still let them out as they will be keen with them due to chip out, same again though keep enough doos locked in there boxes to keep the eggs warm that you have left.

all the best whatever you decide to do.

Just aslong as i get a yb team bread to take me to a cpple of races ill be happy but if i do get a cpple broke they will be getting sent to races to find out whats worth keeping
