HOMER49 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 HiTake Franks point first about storing under coverJMO is a none starter would cost 640 sq feet at £12per square foot £7680 for both units per year inc ratesThe painting bill was for the chassis, side runners, back and front panels only also new lights, side marker lightsand 2? landing legs and rewiring units to MOT standardsNot the basket runners or anything above floor height.Yes the floors are a disgrace and will not pass a motin that condition but its not a big job maybe £600/£700depending on the price of MORANTY flooring and wouldreplace it all in case somebody should have an accidentMr H is very good with a pencil but knows nothingabout the upkeep of transportation and relies onwhat the haulier tells himThe job is available to anybody who wants itCheersHomer 49Rethink on type of wood its not morantyToday the floors of trailers are 20mm exteriorply covered with a pvc soft coating Caruin pine think that the nameBecause of the welded uprights ply wouldbe impossible to fitCould use s/h flooring red pine

I agree with what you are saying mate, but at the end owe the day, some member who have the skill, wont do a thing for the club without getting a couple owe bob, sad but troo. And by the looks owe this body work, it needs attention quick, or the mighty Lanarkshire will have to look at the hire owe a transporter for the coming season.
airdrie2 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 the holes in the floor didnt happen overnight they have been like that for a while , so do our birds get soaked from below and as bidada says fumes also . tapaulin cover when layed up would be advantage. cost 100 pounds a month to store maybe the new transport company this year will look after them better but should have been out of that yard months ago
frank-123 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 who cleans the drinking system ?are the hoses renewed ? would the fed pay to have them renewed ?
REDROCKET Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 cant we get some pics of the drinking system up here just to see if there is anything wrong with what we have in place.

Think we should be cleaning those hoses and tank every 3 weeks of the season some milton or similar in the water and run it through the hose to clean it water goes off after 24 hours i believe

Guest bigda Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 the trailer is that bad the wood beetle fd off, in a huff think the best option would be to re floor with 1"1/4 old reclaimed flooring then covered with glued down lino or light gauge alloy sheets
gulkie Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 this damage only happened over the last year as these trailers have to be plated every year and in that state they would not have been passed.make no mistake to replace the flooring is a major job, with all the iron work above, and costly ,not just a case of sticking some plywood on the floor.in a nut shell our trailers are scrap.its time we caught up with the modern worldof pigeon racing.

Guest bigda Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 think we could use decking board not all that dear, but would have to fit mesh on top around the working area corridoras could be slippery if left in a damp area, or old 1"1/4 the biggest problem wouldbe trying to get good size lengths in and under supports i think it can be done with a bit of giggety pokery. would need to examin the flooring joists also could be perished

Guest bigda Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 thought the newmains men would have been on to the case immedialety, usually have there Neb in ever other thing that goes down. then again maybe the workmanship not there any more the traillerhas cost us loads of money over the yearsill put the floor on, no problem but firstthe racking will have to be removed and re welded to the trailer, that cant be a hard job for a burner, welder let me know when you are ready for bigdas expertise, here to help the Pilgrims
Chris Little Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 Come on guys, rally round and fix your trailers. Solway fed lads got together a couple of years ago one winter's day and repaired our trailer
VMS Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 The fed has plenty of cash,so why do they not just pay to get the repairs done. Why should the members have too volunteer to carry out the repairs the fed has about 70/80 grand in the bank.
REDROCKET Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 could wee not steel the wood from somewhere for free and king billy and bigda could fit it and if my new loft is finished i'll help also.ps we could also get a full set of new tyres from harthill service's.

Looks like they will always have plenty if they dont spend it, Transporter is just an example, looks like they are trying ti catch the other organisation who have plenty without spending,
frank-123 Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 wonder how lanarkshire fed managed 30 years ago did someone gift the trailers we use now?
