Guest stb- Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I THINK LEIGE IS THE BEST CHANCE YOU WILL GET IN THE WEST AS THATS ABOUT AS FAIR AS IT WILL GET
robbiedoo. Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 As i have said many times before we can only race to our home where we live it is a real pity that bop are dictating to the fanciers where best to race our birds from ,and yes will agree with you all the further north your bird has to travel the more it has to avoid being attacked anyway good luck to you all in 2011 am sure we will all clock a good one and prob loose an even better one its good to see someone mention the north as you wont here us moan about race points or overfly . some fanceirs in the SOUTH WEST think the world is against them i wander how they would feel if they lived if FORRES - ELGIN OR INVERNESS and you never hear these guys moan and groan and it truth be told they have proberly got the worst loft locations in scotland FACT imo

robbiedoo. Guest bigda Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 rab at the distance events no one has it easy pal you need the right man with the right doos there is to much fanceirs on about loft location i agree it pays a massive part in the short races its there for all to be seen in the fed results but surely the race programe should be set out for which is best for the birds not best for the fanceir . can you tell me how much times the national has been won in the west as i have asked this question alot of times and no one seems to know . i think it has been won in the west 3 times in the early 19 century and think coatbridge has won it 2 times excluding george macalonies win belive one of the winners names was a mclean
JohnQuinn Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Eddie Callaghan fae Faulhouse in 1986 i think it was with a doo called Fallahill Superstar, before him John (Jock) Poole of Newmains won it 10 years earlier in 1976, to my knowledge they are the only 2 in the last 40 years, says it all.

Delboy Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Poole 1975 with a red hen, we were 53rd Open. Those were the days when the west sent 3000 birds

Delboy Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Eddie Callaghan wasnt in the west section. Last winner of Gold cup was Matt White, Paisley 1980, so 31 years since Gold cup winner
JohnQuinn Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Poole 1975 with a red hen, we were 53rd Open. Those were the days when the west sent 3000 birds Realised my mistake with the year Jock won it as soon as i read the post back. Canny remember a name for the Doo, can you Derek?

Guest stb- Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 rab i do know where you are coming from pal but how come they used to do it but dont now .dont know robbie if its because we train from the east and north east along the forth estuary and down the east side familiar route probably teaching them to an exstent, but its just unfortunattly the safer option to try and avoid constant attaks way percy in the hills I used to train 30 40 50 miles south thruogh the hills but never went that direction for 15 years due to getting hammered on a regular basis , not saying you dont get it on the east but the birds are not stuck in the hills the same and have somewhere to manouvre . personally i would love to race down the west again but for safty i would opt out of that one , had to many hammerings to even contemplate it
