Been talking with my dad regarding Jim's sale, please bear in mind I dont know the man himself, and stand to be corrected as usual?!

But here goes, Jim's birds go back to Aitken & Walker from Coalburn, down from their red hen, scored Rennes as a yearling and went fully pooled as a 2yr old and took its full share. She was from a hen from the late Hal Renwick, Stonehouse.

This pair left quite a few handy doo's for A & W such as the TV hen which won the nom and TV from the Mid-week Continental Club which ran for a few years in the 70's.

The base and of both these lofts were the late Wee Jocky Harrison's doos, from Coalburn. This man was quoted as being the best 600 mile Doo-man in Scotland, Bobby Carruthers words not mine.Which is maybe the reason why Jim's birds have excelled when the going got tough and ''nae bugger else hud wan''

If I'm wrong as I am about most things please put me right???!!!

don't think your far of the mark there pal :emoticon-0167-beer:

Jocky used to phone me for weather reports when lanarkshire raced down this way had him down judging our club show at moffat year or two before he sadly passed away ,one of life's true gentlemen privileged to have known him ,the Harrisons were household names in those days my late friend Davy Nichol who built my loft in 1971 told me that he got pigeons when he raced many years previous to that and they came from a Mr Harrison at Leshmahagow sure he called him Bankie ,jocky did tell me what the family connection was but i forget ,sure he had a farm

Hi

Where did Andrews grizzels come from ?

The reason I ask this question is I attended

the late Owen McIvors sale in Carnwath and

Andrew and Ian MacDonough bought nearly every

grizzel in the sale

Cheers

I remember there was a big discussion on this a while back, when Dick Nimmo, Newarthill was mentioned as original source, and from the thread, the date was 1948.

Maybe Gareth Rankin could answer that question better then me as i am not all that familiar with the family, but i do remember masons 1210 mentioned also the Bailleston Grizzles from way back and nimmo from newarthill.
