sapper756 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 David Beckham believes the final 24 hours could be decisive in England's bid to win the World Cup vote. Fifa will announce on Thursday whether England, Russia, Spain/Portugal or Holland/Belgium will host the tournament in 2018. The bidding process has been long and complicated and the 22 members of Fifa's executive committee will have been carefully mulling over which way to vote for some time. However, 2018 ambassador Beckham recognises the importance of fighting until the very last minute and says every effort will be made to ensure the bid is successful. The challenge of securing the vote is one Beckham compares to some of his most difficult tasks as a player. "The last 24 hours can be the most important without a doubt," said the England midfielder

VAGIN Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I dont care who gets its .To me FIFA are just a bunch of fraudsters and gangsters who manage to line there own pockets and have the powers to turn any country into what they says goes .Any country applying for too take part in the world cup must sign up to there written agreements or they will not be considered , One part of the agreement is that any monies made by FIFA will be excempt any tax Its reconed that if it was held in England Fifa would make £300 million tax free Surely thats not right Give it too the Arabs because the just have to out into there garden ,dig a wee hole up comes the black stuff and there all loaded

VMS Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Disappointed that they haven't included the use of the stadia in Scotland in their bid to win the World Cup.That might have been a extra incentive to winning the games if they included Scotland, some fantastic stadiums here.
Fair Play Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Nice to see them getting it but hope they don't win it or we will have to listen to all the V.D. for another 40 years.Others have won it and just got on with improving their. game

just ask me Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 after the panorama program showing earlier this week they are a number of votes down already and the way the voting works they might not get to the second round of votes

When the English FA wanted there to be a Great Britain football team for the 2012 Olympics it was dismissed very quickly by the Scottish FA etc etc for that reason i think England were right to go it alone regardless of whether they win it or not.

Think there was a fear that Scotland's national team could have been at risk from losing their National identity so the risk was not viable.Would you have been in favour of it if there was a risk that Englands national teams idenity could be lost and be replaced with a GB team for all future competitions, dont think so.

If Scotland were to have the fear of national identity then of course England would have the very same risk attached.
Fair Play Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 So Panorama shot the bid in the foot
just ask me Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Russia wins the bid it will now be at least 20 year before england can host it

just ask me Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 So Panorama shot the bid in the foot i think so i said above that england would have problems getting into the second round of votes think about it this program accused the people that were voting of taking massive bribes only two days before the vote i believe there as bent as hell but not a smart thing to do
Ian McKay Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Their brown envelopes were bigger
Guest mick bowler Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 If anyone ever thought England were going to win it, even before the furore, really wants their head examined. Fifa is about money, Russia is an untapped market and with a country that big, a huge opportunity, thats why they got it, oh and a few back handers lol!!
dal2 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Look oot for the minoritised rebels cumin tae the party wae there box of tricks!!!

sapper756 Posted December 2, 2010 Author Report Posted December 2, 2010 England's dream of hosting the 2018 World Cup has been brought crashing down after Russia won the vote in Zurich on Thursday afternoon. Fifa's 22 executive committee members decided that Russia deserved the honour, leaving the rival bids of England, Spain/Portugal and Holland/Belgium in tatters. Hopes were high that the slick final presentation by England's 2018 team, which included David Beckham, Prince William and Prime Minister David Cameron would be enough to win over Fifa's ExCo. Yet despite their efforts being immediately applauded by Fifa president Sepp Blatter as 'excellent and remarkable', England were unable to secure the share of the votes required to land the tournament for the first time in 52 years http://img.skysports.com/10/12/218x298/WorldCup_2536789.jpgWorld Cup: More woe for England
VMS Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Think England came up short because they decided to go it alone,if the bid was on behalf of the United Kingdom it may well have been a celebration today for the whole nation.
