Guest bigda Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 think within the next 3 years there will be no more long distance races, all inland, fanciers cant be bothered with the camping out late anymore, and the north lads cant manage to get a early liberationat 4-30 am but in all fairness they should be accommodated, as been the furthest fliers , unless they can get the hours of darkness changed from 4-30 am 5-30 am there chances are getting slimmer every year, as to win the gold cup why have a 4-30 am hours of darkness when they are never let up at that time , most i have spoken too have come out and said for the few years that are left the inland races will do them , shame reallyother than the gold cup he says it would have been finished a few years ago
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 yer cheery the night bigda
Guest bigda Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 to many fancier chucking it now mate Stewart bros MC Cormack, possibly Blair, and the deaths this year alone of pigeon men
yeboah Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Bigda you are correct about early lib the birds should be up as soon as conditions allow to give birds flying furthest at least a chance of winning although i don't see this happening because of impossible distance they have to cover on the shift ,earliest lib i can remember since the early seventies was five thirty but with changing weather patterns think this could be a thing of the past .think i am correct in saying with those early liberation's controllers had to be out of there beds by 2-30 NOW THATS DEVOTION

JohnQuinn Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 tommy, you miss on one point. one loft races are for the sprint man, no the distance man bigda as is Canny agree with you on that score Danny, we all know the BIG money in one loft races is in the Longest race, usually over 300mls for Yb's, you canny say that is sprinting.
yeboah Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 tommy, you miss on one point. one loft races are for the sprint man, no the distance man bigda as isBigda think you are missing the point sprint or long distance has nowt to do with it ,think £30,000 you may then be getting closer to the truth .
tommy2 Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Bigda, you need never worry about distance racing ending it will go on many many more years,as long as you distance boys stick together, and as basketing centers get further away, helping each other will always give working class fanciers the chance to compete at the highest level, but we got to stick together. Just a little point of intrest, did any of you boys know a certain distance race was always liberated 12 0`clock midnight giving the birds chance to be clocked on the day and some were ,even 18 hour day birds, what do you think of that?
Guest Freebird Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Must have been from Shetland mid summer?

Guest bigda Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Think you must be talking solely about the North of the border there bigda as seems to be going OK down here. The NRCC has brought back Saxa Vord to its program for 2011 - Hopefully the members will ensure it stays there now and if so both members and committee are to be commended for it. (543 miles to us) yes up here vallance, they cant" agree about the distance, or there union, or the early libs, and the cost of going to the distance, down to 400 birds from once it was 10,000 and think the longest race was 250 birds
geordie1234 Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 for me the national races is the races were i want to be in a few years no point been in a sport if you dont want to compete at the top and thats just my opinion

geordie1234 Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 There is not a doubt in my mind that the long distance races will be still going, to me thats what pigeon racing is all about
walterbmasson Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 There is not a doubt in my mind that the long distance races will be still going, to me thats what pigeon racing is all about geo1234 theres a few fanciers ive spoken to that s told me there struggling to put now as the old staggers are pettering off ther is not the birds to take there place and that is with them breeding 3 times more than they used to its not rocket science to see it wont be long before it will be £20 to send a bird to the long ones jmo
Chris Little Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 As long as I have doos there will still be long distance racing
geordie1234 Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 no matter how much it is to send your doos it will still be there and this is were the true champions are and always will be
