Guest mick bowler Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Sometimes worthwhile sacrificing one to save many, and of course also save the upset to the birds.

jocky Posted November 21, 2010 Author Report Posted November 21, 2010 Sometimes worthwhile sacrificing one to save many, and of course also save the upset to the birds. IF THE HAWK WOULD NOT HAVE BOLTED I WOULD HAVE SACRIFICED THE BIRD AND ASSURE YOU IT WIDNAE HAVE COME BACK
Guest Davy Fleming Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Jocky, You wouldn't have to sacrifice anything in your case because they ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS come back to the exact same spot and see if the bird is still there
Guest Owen Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 You need to buy yourself a couple of fen traps and set them at the base of an aviary. Be very carefull with them because they will catch cats, dogs and other birds just as well. They are also very dangerous to children. The best bait for hawks are budgies, cockatiels and canaries. Budgies and cockatiels are great because they will tell you when the hawk is about by screaming the place down.If you are prepared to do a bit of work, you can make a hawk trap. The design is under Swedish Goshawk Trap on the internet. When I have made them I always use the bungee elastic to operate the trap because it is easier than the springs on the drawing. I also find that it is best to fit simple door catches to avoid the trap springing open.
