Mine is a working border terrier called biff  he lives under the loft most of the time.

Jack russel, only take notice of one... and normally don't take to kids. Are a law unto themselves.

Labrador has to be best all round I guess. Great gaurd dogs, which strangely enough why more are bitten by Labs than any other dog. People just know of their good disposition and naturally seeeem to put hand over fence, gate to stroke them. Of course they guard their territory.

Great outside of teritory, and with kids always.

But remember that ANY dog can and will be sorted big time by a cat when it deems a need to. They lituraully hop on a dogs back and claw at it's eyes. Dog can't get it off and just keeps running. Never so much as looks, let alone growls at a cat again.

Take it from me, one doesn't want to se it happen to their dog.

Besides No dog can climb up where a cat will and can. So they often arc the backs and warn, of just sit out of harms way and take no notice after a time.

Now a cat can and will drive another cat away.

Best guard against cats? Another cat, like my alpha male cat Percy. No cat comes within four gardens of my loft, left side, rightside or the eight gardens at the back of me. Another cat beats anydog, no competition.

what you need is a birddog joking aside get a miniture jack russ dont buy from a farm go to a private breeder have a look in the loot see the mum and dad so you know the temprament is nice if you have a 2 year old sister DONT get a staff they can be nasty were children are about they are bred as a fighting dog ask people who know the breed not saying all are nasty but some have not got the temprament around children talk to your mum and dad about it but you must think of your sister i have 6 staff bitches but i live on my own
