yes your right any strain will win, but i want to know peoples opinion on who has the best sprint birds in the country upto 250 miles, i didnt ask who has the best upto 500 miles, strain of birds has no interest to me just, winning birds

A good fancier with good pigeons living in a good position will beat a good fancier with good pigeons living in a poor position more times than not. On paper the fanciers pigeons in the better position would appear the better of the two but they're not. Never underestimate position in sprint racing.

The Mardon Staff Van Reets take a bit of beating at the shorter raceshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

I have introduced Lambrechts and crossed them into my original family. The youngsters are winning right up to Fed level. They are absolutely brilliant. When it comes to exercise, they will fly for hours on end.

Wise words Tony which makes a good fancier flying into a good area very much unstopable

Different doos for different areas, we cannot fault the van loons and the andre clemen pigeons, our first year with the frans zwols, bit early to judge?

These threads are interesting and frustrating in the same way.The fastest pigeons at the moment to 200 mile are the Lambrechts. The fastest to 300 mile are the Van loons. The Mardon van reets have been ruined with Mardons constant adherance to the cock Toey. The Soontjens are very capable however they are better crossed. The Busschaerts are very capable however dedicated colonys are hard to find and as George died in 1982, its hardly surprising. The wildemeersch are very fast as well but will not trap on return.

In the Fed I race in theres a lot of good flyers up to 250miles but maybe only 2 lofts that have "dominated" at these distances since i started racing 10 years ago.

They done well I gather with Van De Rhees,Janssen Van Loons and Staf Van reets. So like a lot of todays good "sprint" pigeons they are Janssen based.

I'm not so sure it matters mind you I think it just so happens these were the doos that these fanciers raced at the time and these fanciers would probably have been as successful with Vandenabeeles,Busschaserts or whatever other good doos they raced under their management.I think basically theres good doos and bad doos regardless of any fashionable names attached. The same can probably be said for fanciers and I am one of the many hoping to be a good one someday :P:lol:

Where did you get your Lambrechts mate ?

getting back to original post Brian Hawes has been consistent over the last few years into your kind of area.

Thanks phil, the only one who answered the question correctly by stating the man who races the birds, and not the strain, but thanks anyways for everyone elses input.

TC, regarding position in the london, essex area do you think it matters, with our radius' so small varying from 5-10mile?

the english scottish and welsh fanciers seem to want an allround pigeon as the race programs start small then increase and increase so to get a fair idea you have to look at a sprint club [belgium fanciers race vittese club midfond and fondclubs ]sothe birds for sprint are the top men in the sprint club.ciril lambrect is good but is he top man in his club ?

Belgium wise, ive been after Corneel Beertels of lier in Belgium,he destroys the competition over there, thats if he is still alive, it was a tip i recieved in 2007, but were i dont drive have never been able to go over there, and with very few trips to lier market in this area hard to do. But if anyone does call into the Green House Bar and have a look at the pigeon clubs notice board.

wiley keep your eyes open- homeing world adverts ,went with E Goodyear one year picked his bus up at hull ferry another yeay went with the irish lads great trip they picked me up at scotch corner services its a long travel when you drive and go through the tunnel. If you do go the corn exchange trip is good to go as there are loads of squeakers for sale there and the natural breeding station is usually visited [order befor if you want them and they will be ready or there may be none for sale]

SO AS LONG AS YOU CAN GET A LIFT I AM SURE THERE WILL BE A TRIP FROM YOUR WAY YOU MAY HAVE TO TRAVEL TO A PICK UP POINT.

YOUR NOT LIVING ON SHETLAND ARE YOU?LOL

i also read the article your stating about a year after i got the tip, and made me more keener, i think i read somewhere on chat that Albert Tarleton had a big win with this birds also but maybe wrong. Chris understand what your saying but theres nothing like taking the birds in your hand, maybe this year i might be able to get over to belgium.
