Guest lenwadebob Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Put the details in the BHW and RP on the letters page. More of a chance of Secretaries reading it in there
john cumming Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 i had the same thing happen to me a few seasons ago, lost a good bl cheq hen thinking bop had got her just got on with it, a year later she came romping in on a saturday morning all rubbered up i thought i had won that days race by a mile till checking her??? still have her in the loft today she is 13 now and has produced some of my best birds including the bird that won yesterdays race from newark 329 miles, the point being for all the good in pigeon racing there are some(a small minority ) very dishonest people involved in our sport/hobby question: if someone holds onto and races your bird without you knowing or consenting would that be classed as a form of theft?? defenately deceiptful.

It is up to the race secretary to check all pigeons are registered to the fancier flying them. If they have not been transfered then it is an issue to be addressed with the fancier involved. I personally take note of any strange numbers or numbers outwith our club allocation, and make sure they are all registered with the fancier flying them. If not then it needs to be investigated. I,ve never had to go any further than the first stage as i my club/club mates dont stoop so low.
sapper756 Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 I am not saying this is the case, but something you may consider, maybe a club that allows members to put such healthy strays into the race basket, which must be rubbered, especially if the race point they are going to is near the area the bird is registered to. Giving the bird a chance to get home without costing the owner for a courierhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif you never knowhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif

Giving the bird a chance to get home without costing the owner for a courier you never knowTotally agree with what you're saying but with the birds clearly wing stamped and telephone number visible a call would have been in order just to let me know what they had done.I have done the same thing myself and informed the owner of my actions.Anyhow she's home.
peter dempsey Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 are we jumping the gun here?? I do my best to return birds if and whenever its possable it seems to me that this bird was missing only a short time ???? I would doubt if someone was trying to race it more like sending it back to the ownerwe cant put a bird in a basket if is not rubbered << so if I am sending a bird back to where I believe it to be from i wont say anything just put a rubber on at marking and hope the bird makes its way homeI had a bird drop into my loft yesterday Injured it had a address ring I phoned the owner he informed me that this bird went missing last year, but when he had it returned it turned out to be one of his best racers ?? the strange thing is when we got talking on the phone and he asked my name he then discovered that it was me that contacted him about tha same bird last yearI have no doubt this bird only dropped to me because of very bad injuries ???? so please lets not jump to conclusionsmaby the chap was doing a favour rubbering the birdkind regards to all peter
greenlands Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 Peter ,I'm not jumping the gun I'm pleased she's back ,if you read the post I put on prior to yours. What's the price of a phone call.Just missing a short time, 7 weeks?Lindsay

I know it isn't kosher, but someone could put a bird away to a race as a trainer, rubbered, trying to get that bird back into the area it belongs.
peter dempsey Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 I do agree that there is some that ABUSE the system but would like to say well done for getting her backkindest regardsto allpeter
ovy1255 Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 its good when you get your birds in after they took a holliday and sometimes guys keep them for a while to let them recover but remember if your pigeons are taken in by any west durham amal member and he thinks he will try to repatreate the bird to the owner by useing the transporter the drivers are under instruction not to take the bird.so maybe a sneaky rubbered pigeon is the only way of setting it back on its way.and sometimes good weather is wat the good samariton is looking for or a racepoint to give the bird its best chance of getting home.hells bells if you want pigeons you have just got to ask and u shall recieve at least thats the way it is in geordieland.
