This happened to me a few years back, a Bl. Pd. hen, all white flights so I stamped every flight and sent to the next race, 1'st club, in again next week, 1'st club, in the next week 2'nd club and then I thought why am I taking it out on this bird so I stopped her and she went on to be a useful breeder

This happened to me some 40 years ago with a cheq pied cock. NU69A2338.Turned out to be one of the best breeding cocks Iv'e ever had the pleasure to own.

looks like someone has been racing it [with rubber ring on], maybe worth keeping it,, who knows, :) where ever it came back from, the loft may no longer be there , maybe the reason for it returning,

i remember i had a bird return after 6 years [lost in a race from worcester as a yearling] never said much for its racing ability, but boy :) what a memory lol :) true :)

I sent him to a race the weekend he came back.

There's something about these lost birds that return, always worth giving a chance

well its either been in wrong loft and held captive or its been injurded and rehabilitated , but it knew where home was so i guess wrong loft ;) nowt wrong with its abilty to find home or win ,its just a shame some folk keep these birds in when in fairness 9/10 would rather give bird away than pay for its return ;)
