Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 DO YOU THINK IT IS POSSIBLE FOR A BIRD TO WIN A RACE OF 55 TO 70MILES BY OVER 100 YARDS A MINUTE YOUNG BIRDS
REDCHEQHEN Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Anything is possible, if we are talking same liberation, different clubs it has happened in our section where birds flying 52 miles were flying 100+ yards per minute faster than another club flying 56 miles
Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 I AM ASKEN THIS AS IT HAPPEND IN OR FED LAST WEEK ALF 100+ YARDS FASTER THAN THE HOLE FED 5000+ BIRDS AS IN IRELAND THE BIRD WOULD BE DISQUALFIED AS NO BIRD SHOULD WIN BY 100 YARDS OVER THE HOLE FED
Guest Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Ask your self this one, on a three hundred mile race is it possible for a flyer to get 21 birds on the drop 43 minutes before the next bird?????
Roland Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Glad I don't race in Ireland. Sour grapes I think are causing ones' face to contort!
GROVEHOMER Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Yes, it can happen in any club, but its more likely in a bad race (poor weather, clashing, that kind of thing) or in smaller, less competetive clubs....no disrespect to the latter!
THE FIFER Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 YES IT'S POSSIBLE OTHER BIRDS JUST SLOW, IT'S HOW FAST A BIRD DOES THE RACE THAT MATTERS.
Guest Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 You are only talking about 4 mins at that distance very possible that a bird pulled out early on from the lib site. Especially if the person who's bird it was had the sense to single up from that race point. I know I would if I was only flying 55 miles - the bird would know the route backwards. Just for reference I had the first 4 in a club race this year all racing to the same area from 94 miles. My first bird was 8 mins ahead of my second so anything can happen - it's called motivated.
Guest Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 As for no bird should win the fed by 100 yards - I think someone better tell the birds to slow down then. Or maybe we could ask all the good flyers not to race widowhood etc maybe just fly them celibate and take some of the motivation away so it makes it better for the slower flyers. Then perhaps those that don't want to put the work in could have a chance at winning a few prizes that sounds fair doesn't it. Or even better we could just not fly any RACES and just write out a prize card for every member that pays his subs - how does that grab you.
Tony C Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 So how far has a pigeon got to win a race by before its deemed an improbable velocity ?
ALF Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 I AM ASKEN THIS AS IT HAPPEND IN OR FED LAST WEEK ALF 100+ YARDS FASTER THAN THE HOLE FED 5000+ BIRDS AS IN IRELAND THE BIRD WOULD BE DISQUALFIED AS NO BIRD SHOULD WIN BY 100 YARDS OVER THE HOLE FED Did'nt see the fed result bud as am not racing my young birds yet ::)But i can remember a similar thing happening in our fed a couple of years ago when the guy won the race by about 100 yds and had 16 drop together and he was'nt disqualified : : ::)And on the same day there was no other fed in the west of Scotland anywhere near his velocity. Now am not saying for 1 minute that the guy cheated but was he late down at his club on marking night and did they put all his birds in the same basket and maybe there was an escape???

WIDOWMAKER I WAS ONLY ASKING A QUESTION AND I HOPE YOU HAVE WRITTEN A FEW FIRST FOR YOURSELF :o ;D ;D
jimmy white Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 fairs fair, he was only asking a simple question ;D ;D ;D my opinion is this could easily be possible, its happened plenty times before, as we do get some queer races nowadays a person topped the fed having only 2 ,,,4 mile tosses last week ,,nowt so strange as pigeons ;D ;D ;D
peterpau Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 3 Years ago won 1st YB race from 85mls 100ypm in front sent her the next week never saw her again
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Wings I do apologise for my outburst it really was not your fault. I was writing on the back of my own circumstances in my local club. The last 2 seasons I have won the lions share in my club - all the averages etc (last season totalled 43 trophies). However people who I considered my friends when I wasn't winning are now saying I am doing allsorts to win and basically trying to cause me trouble. The upshot is that due to petty jealousy I have decided to knock club racing on the head and stay with the nationals etc. So unfortunately for you wings after I read this topic I made more of it than it was. Once again I sincerely apologise as I was in a bad mood, which is not really your problem. If I have offended anyone else on this great forum I apologise to them aswell.
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Jimmy is that right someone won with only 2 tosses, was it youngbirds. There is me can't decide whether to send to my first race this week as I have only had 2 15mile tosses, 9x 30 mile tosses and 4 of them being up in 4's.
Guest WINGS 04 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 WIDOWMAKER I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM AS MOST MY SO CALLED FRENDS DID THE SAME TO ME WE HAVE BEEN THE TOP FLYER IN OR CLUB FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS AND WHAT MAKES IT WORSE FOR THEM IS THAT WE HAVE ONLY BEEN FLYING PIGEONS FOR 6 1/2 YEAR
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 But what I don't understand is that club racing is dying so why do they want to help progress the rot. In national racing there is a different kind of mentality , there is no jealousy etc as you well know with you national success Rose. So why does it happen? Are people that desperate for a club card - they would cause so much hassle (sort of what I was saying in previous post without the ranting and raving lol )
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Wings I think what makes it hard for them to swallow is when I joined 2 years ago they said don't worry that you won't score where you live, it's still a good club even if you don't have much success. The drag comes up the west side of the radius and I live the furthest east and furthest south (big dog leg) so should be on the last drop. But since I have been flying widowhood hens I have been winning the races alot not just getting the cards. They don't like it up em, but my girls must just be motivated enough to pull out early. Never mind won't have the hassle next year!! ;D
Guest Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Last year aswell, the guy who was second to me alot of weeks who I must say was a fantastic flyer (the one I always worried about every week) was driven out of the club aswell when he started getting missed of the lib calls etc. Soon the way it's going all good flyers be in nationals and clubs just be mediocre flyers apparently the way they like it.
jimmy white Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 widowhood, r ,,can understand you perfectly,, had it myself so i understand what your saying ;D ;D hope your in a better mood today ;D ;D dont worry my freind we all get like that at times, carry on winning and dont worry about any of them, wish you luck ,j w ;D ;D
