Roland Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 AVAST! IT'S free and brill, best I've ever had, and I've paid for some name ones that aren't anywhere near as good. One I forgot te ame of - is on a memory disc somewhere - that was also free tha the Universities use, that is real good too. But AVAST! TRY IT, it's free too.

Guest Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 The fact that you're on the web means that you've got an Internet Service Provider (ISP). They are the ones that should be providing you with software protecting you from the nasties out there, as part of their Service to you. After all its their service that routes the stuff to your computer! My ISP does exactly that, and my PC is protected when on- and off-line.

THE FIFER Posted March 1, 2007 Report Posted March 1, 2007 if u cant get it off and u have system restore on ur pc, disable system restore, keep it disabled for 2-days then put it back on, this is how u get those ones off that ur virus protection cant shift, like trojan horses etc.

tubbles Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Hey all don't forget, even if you have anti virus running you are still supposed to do a system scan every now and again and make sure antivirus updates itself, mine (AVG Free) updates everytime i turn on computer, also your firewall has to be updated periodically there are free ones out there like zone alarm, the one i use right now is called comodo and have never noticed any slowdown while downloading or online gameplay. Mac1 don't forget if you download something you should virus check it before running it. If you have XP you should also do a disc cleanup and defrag every now and again i generally do that after i have run virus check and adware removal (lavasoft adaware personal) and spyware checker(spybot search and destroy) you should always update these too. Dunno how we cope with these computers but dunno what i'd do without one now. :B
Guest Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 Use a good free spyware program, you'll be amazed how this sorts your machine out if you're virus free, I'd use spybot http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spybot_Search_and_Destroy/1043809773/1 Don't forget you need a firewall to try comode a top rated free one http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ If you want a top rated anti virus you can get the following on 60 days trial http://www.avast.com/
frank-123 Posted March 2, 2007 Report Posted March 2, 2007 the avast i use last 14 months then you just rejoin again for another 14 months
Guest Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Bart that's a good deal, especially when Avast is one of the best rated as opposed to noton / symantec which in tests is proving poor
frank-123 Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 im happy with it albear you just want something to do the job when its free all the better
