blackjack Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 1st Corn the price of corn has gone up world wide we had an awful harvest of peas and beans .Wheat and Barley is up too and will stay up why not feed good quality farm Barley £5?lb /£5 and farm beans 56lb/£6.50 you do not need fancy mixes with fancy names its like designer clothes a rip off. 2nd spuds yes they had a good growing season but they couldnt get on to harvest them 1,000s of tonnes rotted in the fields.
frank-123 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 heard the retailers are the one's ripping us off as the farmer is not getting much
REDCHEQHEN Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 I only paid £7.99 for maples and £5.50 for tic beans at a farm shop the other week - maple peas were £11.99 at the corn store :-/ but Beyers corn was only £7.99 at the corn store (this month) and was not old stock. Verse Laga was very expensive - nearly £12 a bag for super widowhood
johno Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 no one has mentioned the price of petrol/diesel. over the last two years this has gone up around 30p a litre.over 30%. what price racing and training. 40 mile toss on our own around £10. the increase in diesel is automatically trnsfered to the price of feeding and everything else that needs transporting. it is not finished yet.

Guest IB Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 On the fuel front, news item today of a new biofuel plant being built at Grangemouth in Scotland. Yet another 'big buyer' for available foodstuffs, so increased demand means prices will continue to rise. Watch out for price rises for our own food in the supermarkets next.
Roland Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Went last Sunday to get just one bag.... all same price. Not a 'Name' supplier, just a fair and honest set up, and the feed is real cool too. Yes it is polished well, and will change anything at any time regardless, and will if asked put through the plisher whilst you're there. Better nip over tomorrow ans bu 10 bags I guess. Was told that all the 'Named' suppliers were putting their prices up ...
DOVEScot Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Anything that can have oil extracted from it is being bought up by China and India to feed their need for bio fuels, hiking the prices up, simply supply and demand. I can remember when the EEC and America had grain mountains and farmers were given subsidies not to grow grain :-/
