budgie Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 With the race programme now being decided by the S.N.F.C what race do we use for our Channel Race.Ypres on the 3rd July (which would be my preference to give fanciers the time to educate their youngsters) or Falaise on 17th July. May i take this opportunity to congratulate the newly elected Officials and Management Commitee within the New Scottish National Flying Club and all the best for the oncoming season. The only post that does not seam to be taken is that of the PRO which i hope they approach the greatest scribe to-date the wee man fom Kircaldy Joe Murphy.
wullie semple Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 yes andy ypres would be fine and would also go for joe murphy for scribe
ALF Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 I'm sure Ian Henderson mentioned we were planning to go to Ypres with the SNFC at the meeting yesterday
Guest bigda Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 alf is that a extra race for lanarkshire under fed rules or national
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 50/50 for me Budgie, i see the benefit for as you say most of the fanciers would like to concentrate on their young birds when it comes to the second weekend in July but i have always been of the opinion that the federation members should have a race of 500 miles once a year. What about including both Ypres and Falaise on the race program. ;) :X :X :X ;D ;D ;D ;D
lanarkshire lad Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Would like to see the fed going to falaise with the snfc to get past the magical 500mile ypres being too short and suits the east coast boys once again
Guest bigda Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Would like to see the fed going to falaise with the snfc to get past the magical 500mile ypres being too short and suits the east coast boys once again we could still have our own sections, in the lanarkshire and open, if it is open to all feds who precededs over it, the national and how much to join this one race ys pyres
ALF Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 we could still have our own sections, in the lanarkshire and open, if it is open to all feds who precededs over it, the national and how much to join this one race ys pyres It's a fed race 1st and foremost same fed pools and IF you want to duplicate in the SNFC you can
alec guinness Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Would like to see the fed going to falaise with the snfc to get past the magical 500mile ypres being too short and suits the east coast boys once again ypres last year was a great race for the few lanarkshire fed fanciers who gave it a go g bain,j cullen & j gillon and also jim hannah had great returns, belgium has given us good racing for the few races we have had. ;) ;)
hotrod Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Would like to see the fed going to falaise with the snfc to get past the magical 500mile ypres being too short and suits the east coast boys once again your wrong mate the further east you go with the birds the better for the west boys well better overfly anyway
lanarkshire lad Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 your wrong mate the further east you go with the birds the better for the west boys well better overfly anyway with a west wind mate the west section has NO CHANCE shootie in for the boys up in eyemouth coldingham etc
hotrod Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 with a west wind mate the west section has NO CHANCE shootie in for the boys up in eyemouth coldingham etc its actually better than racing from falaise ,read my last post i said that it was better for OVERFLY for the west boys
frank-123 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 has the west section ever got a chance in a west wind from any national races
hotrod Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 has the west section ever got a chance in a west wind from any national races well i won from reims this year in a strong west wind enough said please beleive in the birds in west bart
johno Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 ask hotrod he won the SNRPC Reims Gold medal race last year in a west wind 590 miles into Port Glasgow. national racing from more easterly racepoints such as Reims and Leige has produced a much wider/better spread of the early pigeons in recent years. statistics would say easterly racepoints produce wht appear to be fairer results.
lanarkshire lad Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 its actually better than racing from falaise ,read my last post i said that it was better for OVERFLY for the west boys Fifteen west section pigeons in the first fifty open from falaise last year including 8th open that looks ok to me hotrod.
hotrod Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Fifteen west section pigeons in the first fifty open from falaise last year including 8th open that looks ok to me hotrod. try reading the post mate im not saying ypres is better than falaise im saying you get better measurements from further east race points therefor a better chance to get into result .
alec guinness Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 you lanarkshire boys are in a great position, spoilt for choice,as gareth says why not put both races in your programme, transport is sorted!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) ;)

hotrod Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 the bird out at port glassgow win the snrpc race in a west wind ,and what a bird ,champion thanks mate, well it is to me.
lanarkshire lad Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 try reading the post mate im not saying ypres is better than falaise im saying you get better measurements from further east race points therefor a better chance to get into result . I know what your saying mate but it does not matter about overfly ypres is too short a race for the west section to do well in my opinion.
hotrod Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 I know what your saying mate but it does not matter about overfly ypres is too short a race for the west section to do well in my opinion. i dont see what you meen to short?????what difference does that make :-/ :-/ :-/
lanarkshire lad Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i dont see what you meen to short?????what difference does that make :-/ :-/ :-/ The shorter the race is the pigeons are still in batches and with the drag will shoot up the east coast. The longer the race the pigeons are more spread out.
hotrod Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 WELL mate if the mighty lanarkshire fed is going to this race i think the drag would be to the west :) :)
