Guest redwhiteblue Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Just like to know what's been your worst fed race in the last few years? i.e racepoint returns
REDCHEQHEN Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Clermont 2008 - returns 50% (clashed with Dutch) Melton Mowbray young birds 2008 (lost 6 young birds - 20% - thunderstorm and torrential rain at home end) Melton Mowbray 3 Old birds 2005 (lost 6 - 50%of birds sent) liberated in a thunderstorm - some birds were reported in France from that race)
REDCHEQHEN Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Clermont 2008 - returns 50% (clashed with Dutch) sorry - this was a combine race - not a fed race

thunderboult Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 for me, it has to be messac last year, liberated at 5 to 1 with mist in the area. turned out a tough race with only 8 birds in the marking station on the night. although i had 2 of these and done ok on the result i lost 3 good cocks, which i feel would have homed ok if they had liberated earlier or waited for better conditions. i'm sure birds in this race have met there end on wire's, firstly flying in mist and at the home end when trying to get home in the dark.
Delboy Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 The worst races I have ever known were with the Midland fed. Firstly with Obs from LYMM 180 miles approx, returns for me 2/36 on day ( 4 in club on day ) and I ended up with 24 home over 2 weeks. That race finished alot of people for the year. Without doubt the worst race controlling and convoying I have ever seen in my 30 odd years in the sport. Secondly with YBS from Leyland, ( 160 miles approx ) only one pigeon timed on the day in fed and that was at 8pm.Birds were released in cold ne wind and no other fed liberated that day. Again, the worst controlling and convoying in Scottish racing history.
thunderbigbaws Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 newbury 2007 3 out of 31 on the day 340 miles still 17 short

Delboy i think you are missing something out which was the main factor of your race been the worst race in Scottish - UK history, this was the heavy rain that was coming in from the west Irish sea and yet Midland liberated while the rest of Scotland who were at lib points 100 miles east of Leyland held to the Sunday because they new they could not beat the weather front.
b.massey Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Tow law for Midlothian. Always a bad/hard one

andrew gooch Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Just like to know what's been your worst fed race in the last few years? i.e racepoint returns I think the worst fed race i can remember is when the w.n.r transporter caught fire on the motorway spreading through the wicker baskets like nowbodys buisness; this wiped out most lofts in wales as thay didnt have a chance, combine-national-fed and club winners gone in 1 foul swoop.
