Fife_pigeon_wife Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 i put a letter of resignation in to my secretary, after roughly a week or so later ive changed my mind i;ll just stay put.(club has not had agm yet ) so i phoned my secretary and asked him to " bin the letter " he informed me that i cannot withdraw my letter , what he said was i have to put another letter in to join. so he'll read out the resignation then read out the application. is this right?
cemetary Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 I would have thought that your letter would have been destroyed especially when they havent had there meeting, what can the outcome be when they have there meeting, you may not get voted in, so you will have to look at getting in another club, strange to me with this one. :-/ :-/ :-/ Hope you get all sorted out before the meeting though. What would it have been to rip the letter up, nothing. Just being silly if you ask me.
Ian McKay Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 No. you can withdraw your letter any time you like
Guest strapper Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 i put a letter of resignation in to my secretary, after roughly a week or so later ive changed my mind i;ll just stay put.(club has not had agm yet ) so i phoned my secretary and asked him to " bin the letter " he informed me that i cannot withdraw my letter , what he said was i have to put another letter in to join. so he'll read out the resignation then read out the application. is this right? all he has to do is state that a letter of resignation from you was recieved but has since been withdrawn...no need for new letter. i would contact your union to clarify the matter and see if this is the rules.
Fair Play Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Surely you can withdraw your letter as your AGM has not taken place sounds a bit strange as as your letter should remain dormant until the meeting is opened. Might be wrong maybe one of the club secs. could put you right
grizzal Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 i think he is in the wrong ,ask for your letter back
Guest bigda Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 hes wrong if he dose that, the vote could go against you as you would have to leave the agm while they took a vote and they might not let you in again send another letter to him and state your where not in sound state of mind at the time to safe gaurd your self
thunderbigbaws Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 sounds like your secretery is a bit of a kn*b, or pulling your leg
PIGEON_MAN Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Surely commom sence should prevail here,if the club as not held the AGM then surely he could just rip it up and no one would be the wiser, unless a agenda as been sent out to the other club members showing your resignation then I guess he would have to read it out and then read out your application at the next ordinary meeting, hope youve got no enemies in the club because you might not get back in.
Fife_pigeon_wife Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 thanks guys. oh and bigbaws your spot on mate lol
kirky Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 i put a letter of resignation in to my secretary, after roughly a week or so later ive changed my mind i;ll just stay put.(club has not had agm yet ) so i phoned my secretary and asked him to " bin the letter " he informed me that i cannot withdraw my letter , what he said was i have to put another letter in to join. so he'll read out the resignation then read out the application. is this right? as you put your resignation in writing, you should put a letter in before agm to withdraw your resignation and secretary would have to read both letters out to members,
cemetary Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 kirky, Is this the right way to go, never heard of this one before mate. Get weecunny onto him, he will fix him oot. ;D ;D ;D
THE FIFER Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 If you put in a letter of resignation without saying at a certain date etc you are resigning as the date of the letter, ok the secretary could have withdrawn it, but now you would have to put a letter in asking for your resignation to be withdrawn, then it will be up to the members at the agm, dont see any reason for them to refuse if you just want to change your mind,
cemetary Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Get wee cunny and lithilad to chap his door. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Fife_pigeon_wife Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 5) Any member wishing to resign must do so in writing to the club Secretary not later than the date of the Annual General Meeting but prior to election of Office Bearers for ensuing year otherwise he will be held responsible for the annual subscription of the ensuing year. At this time he will pay up all arrears and forfeit any claim to the property of the club. shu rules. club rules rule 5
Williedoo Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 You havent resinged till your letter is read out and excepted by the members.you can ask for it to be withdrawn.
