jonl6280 Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 How will this recent credit crunch affect your racing? and breeding? :-/
OLDYELLOW Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 its making the corn more expensive but as long as we buy it will increase , ill be breeding the same and also be racing the same amount of birds small loft means it just gets dearer , or your more selective in your breeding
BLACK W F Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 that will all depend on what happens if it gets really bad how many of us will be in full employment we are more or less on our bare time now come summertime could be really bad will just have to wait and see cheers Alan
Guest bigda Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 has to have an affect, if you lose yer job, that's about it really, a lot of things will get cut out, but the doos will be kept and should it get worse than this well, they will have to go, for a lot of fanciers just now this years racing will determine that, if they stay or go
alex wight Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I,ll be living within my means, and hopefully nothing has to take a back seat. We will just have to wait and see if it gets any worse, hope not. You would like to think, that the amount of money we are throwing at the problem, that WE dont suffer any more, after all its our money. Thats going to have a sting in its tail later on, imao. After all it doesnt grow on trees. Good luck to all.
pault Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 i think this credit crunch will affected all parts of our lives not just pigeons
ALF Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I wont be breeding any more than 50 y/b's and the old birds are all still getting fed 100% whole barley from overton farm and are looking great it does make you wonder if they need any heavy feeding before breeding/racing? But i certainly wont be wintering as many pigeons next year thats for sure
retired Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 At the minute work wise i am doing an average of 25 hours a week but i have always kept my finances seperate as best i can with the birds having there own pot. I will be reducing my overall amount of birds for 2010 by a minimum of 50%. At the moment the idea for next year is 12-16 widowhood pairs, 35 young birds and 16 pairs of stock (6 at stock partners) This is providing of course that the economy is still struggling as i think it will be.
gangster Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 well im not sure as b w f says on the bares now and no overtime its gonna be tight for sure......
kipper Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 just starting again . cost of loft ect , i will just have a few young birds this year , put the racing off for a season or two. give me chance to build the stock up.
budgie Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 The biggest on cost will be the birdage and the training.Pools are optional and the way things are going it would be worthwile just racing for prize money.
greenlands Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 I don't keep a lot of birds because i haven't got a lot coming in,I now have less somethings got to give.Lindsay
Guest bigda Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 might have to sell some youngsters if it got bad wouldn't like the though of eating them
Guest cloudview Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 its affected me the last 8 months got laid off last june , still cant get a job lucky wife as full time job , but what savings i had are like a dripping tap at the moment . so ill definitly be selling some youngsters if only to pay this years racing . as for the future well im dreading it unless things pick up again.
Guest kev d Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 as from next monday im on short time from 39 hrs down to 33 hrs and the md says it,s looking very bleak , good job i havent got many birds im only breeding 20 .
stevebelbin Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 It may have a positive effect on the birds, if people start to breed less due to the rising costs, then overcrowding may be kept to a minimum which is always a good thing. With regards to racing it will probably mean birdages will be down.
peterpau Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Having been made redundant in October. I've managed to keep working, but this has meant working every weekend, so bizzare as it may seem I might have to buy ets, so I can still race. As a distance man I was quite happy with a Benzing computer clock I've had for 10 years.
Guest Paulo Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 think it will affect everyone especially with regards to training
retired Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 think it will affect everyone especially with regards to training My old training parter now offers training to all local members for something like 20p a bird which is fair value for a 35 mile chuck. If more people can work together to do such things it could help us all.
