Guest Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 With the Lanarkshire Social Circle opening up its boundaries to Glasgow and Ayrshire.Should it now be known as the West of Scotland Social Circle and how do the original members feel about the boundaries being widened.

sammy Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 think the Bathgate club flew in it at one time as well did it not ?
Guest Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 think the Bathgate club flew in it at one time as well did it not ? Don't no the history mate, just seems rather geographicly incorrect to call it lanarkshire when it takes in so many regions.Maybe a change of name would be more accurate.

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 think the Bathgate club flew in it at one time as well did it not ? Yes the Lanarkshire Social Circle at one time use to have a large catchment area from Bathgate to Barrhead this was changed some 30 odd years ago when the pigeon sport was at its peak not just in Lanarkshire but all over the UK, at that time because there is a limit on the number of members it was then decided to keep entry of new members of the LSC to Members within the Lanarkshire boundarie as at 1973, the decline within the last 10 - 15 years in the sport has meant that although the club was in a very good position with a healthy membership it has taken steps to maintain this position for the coming decades and carry on the tradition of club which is for those who have a strong interest of the distance races with the Scottish National Flying Club as well being a member who enjoys the Social activities which the club promotes and to which the club was formed on. Gareth A proud member of the LSC
