budgie Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I have been told that they made just over £2000.00 with most of the pigeons going for the opening bid.Sad but the reality is the current climate is dictating what we are willing to spend or can afford. :(

Too many birds chasing too little available cash.

Guest IB Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I dont think the venue as to where it was held helped this great club. I didn't pick up where the sale was. But if you really wanted a bird, I'm sure nothing would stop you getting there, or at least putting in a postal or telephone bid for it. Only thing I would find fault with is generally sale adverts don't give the full postal address and directions for out-of-towners to get there. Times I've been to Newmains for example, I've had to rely on the taxi driver's local knowledge, and when I used to walk the area looking for industrial heritage sites, I thought I was in Coltness?
Delboy Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I dont think the venue as to where it was held helped this great club. Totally disagree with you, venue was far superior to Newmains in every way.Plenty of room to observe pigeons in pens , bar in hall for refreshments, good parking etc etc .The Newmains club knocked us back for their premises as the sale was during racing season. Incidently, I didnt see anyone at sale from Newmains and surrounding areas.I have to agree with IB, if you want a yb , you will go anywhere to get it. The only disappointment was the lack of support from west section fanciers but thankyou to all who donated birds.
